Vehicle Detail

Two owners – same owner since 1984. Originally sold in Houston area. No rust ever except the spare tire well plug rusted out. Car was rustproofed in 1986. Never driven in snow or salt. When I bought it, it had the issues with the decals on the trunk shown in the pictures (the “8” is mounted upside down and “I” is missing). Newly upholstered seats with fabric from Aldridge UK. Carpet is still like new, replaced in the 90’s. Performance is enhanced by a Crane cam, Offenhauser manifold, Mallory dual-point distributor, and Holley 600cfm carburetor. Catalytic converters have been removed.Engine was rebuilt with new rings and bearings as needed in 1987 when modifications were done. First and second gear synchronizers replaced along with new clutch. 140mph speedometer was installed. Mileage on original speedo: 47456. Mileage on replacement: 16799 = miles on rebuild. Total miles: 64255.Transmission mount replaced 1997. Starter replaced 2009. Tie rod ends replaced 2017. When I was only 22 in 1985, had a fender bender resulting in body work to the front. New nose piece, left front fender, and straightened a kink in right front fender and one in the hood. Front only was repainted. Left fender wreath decal and front TR8 decal were not installed for some reason. Car is fun to drive, plenty of power, estimated 200hp. Engine, transmission, etc. have been well maintained. Using ATF in the 5-speed. New Castrol oil – run a mix of 20W50 and 10W30. Brakes and tires are little worn. Air conditioner has one or more leaks and is currently discharged. Right headlight “double-pumps”, comes up, goes down, then back up, but always does stay up on the second try – needs adjustment. Weak spot is the original paint has some stains, chips, and can see where it was touched up in the pictures. A new OEM decal set goes with the car for installation with a new paint job. Driven only 2000 miles in last 15 years – since getting married and having a family. Selling due to inheriting an all-original TR8 in excellent condition from my parents.
