Hello!!!!Up for auction is my uncle's 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible. He passed away in January of 2002 and this car was his baby. I am helping my aunt sell my uncle's car for her. My uncle was the original owner and he purchased the Firebird new from South Bay Pontiac located in Patchogue Long Island New York. The dealers emblem is still located on the back of the car. He ordered the car in Alpine Blue with a custom deluxe factory teal interior. The car originally came with a straight six cyliner engine but my uncle said it was too slow so he swapped in a Pontiac 350 engine back in 1989. The V8 engine was brand new straight out of the crate. The original engine was scrapped. He also added an electric fuel pump and fuel pressure gauge. I am unsure of what type of carburetor it has. I never peeked under the air cleaner. The mileage is accurate but I don't know exactly how many miles the V8 has. It also has a 160 mph speedometer and Mickey Thompson aluminum valve covers. The interior is all there but it has an aftermarket Alpine radio. My uncle also added an aftermarket cruise control because he would drive this car to Dayton Beach almost 5 times a year. The carpeting could use a good cleaning or it can be changed out for approx. $180. The convertible top amazingly does not leak and has no holes. The rear plastic window I believe can be polished. No holes in the back window either. The convertible top is manual and I didn't even try to open it. It's sealed properly and doesn't leak. All 4 shakers are present in the car also. The exterior of the car looks worse than it is. Most of the dents can be repaired or you can replace the body panels that need to be replaced. Parts for these cars are available but expensive. It's all up to the new owner if they want to restore it or fix it up as a daily driver. The rear quarters aren't bad except by the back of the rear wheels. My uncle did his own patch work in his garage. He wasn't giving up on his baby! The car was stored in his garage since he passed away so the rust under the car can't be that bad. I never looked underneath the car to see if it had any rot. The bumpers are in great shape and all the brake lights and headlights work great! I will be installing a newer battery in the car because when I went to start it the battery in the car was on it's way out. Car runs and drives but the brakes will need some attention. A good brake flush would definitely help. All 4 original hub caps are present. Tires are old and hold air but they will need to be replaced. When the car was stored the gas tank was drained and so was the coolant system. The car still retains the original 6 cylinder tags on the hood and my uncle left it like that because he said the car was a sleeper. LOL! Trunk pan is solid but the lock is missing for some reason. I was told the original jack is still back there also. I've tried to describe the car to the best of my knowledge. Car has a clear NYS transferable registration issued back on 07/2002. I also have 4 keys for the Firebird. Car is currently in Pennsylvania. It has been garaged at my summer home since March of this year. Pick up of vehicle will have to be from Long Pond,PA.
