This is a highly desirable, Classic W116 Model 3.0L Turbo diesel S-Class which was the top of the line in 1979. Some History: The 300 SD has smaller production numbers of only 28,600 cars built from 1977 to 1980. The W116 series represented a milestone in Mercedes History in pioneering many innovative safety features that have now become commonplace such as Protected Fuel Tank Placement, Crumple Zones, and Carefully Engineered Interior Padding. These safety features helped make the S-Class some of the safest cars on the road. We found this little gem at auction in Southern California. It came in trade to a California dealer who in turn sold it at auction.
