Vehicle Detail
Motor Trend’s 1993 ‘Car of the Year’, the ‘3rd Gen’ Mazda Rx-7, a.k.a. ‘FD’ is sure to be a collectible, especially since there are so few of them left. I’ve had this one since 2003, and I had my first FD from ’97 to ’00. This car is special. Many have said it is the most attractive car to come out of Japan…ever… I have to agree, but I’m obviously biased. I’d love to keep it, as I have little doubt that its value will climb aggressively over the next two decades, however unfortunately I need its current value now. This car deserves a new home where someone will show it the love and attention that it deserves. As a father of 6 kids, my FD has slid way down the totem pole. It is not perfect by any means. It is ready for a paint job and is missing a few minor interior pieces. The bones and meat of this FD, however are top notch. I’ve modified it with just about every reliability mod possible (see list below), which has also given it an amazing amount of power. The FD is crazy fast even at a stock 255 hp. When modded out like mine is, it has an insane amount of speed/power, estimated by Cam at Pettit to have at least 400 hp, and tunable to much more (the Spirit-R twin turbos can be tuned to push 20 lbs. of boost, though I’ve never done that, and I wouldn’t recommend it)! This car has been professionally maintained and tuned only by Rx-7 specialists; AIM Tuning in Indianapolis and Pettit Racing in WPB, FL. Motors are included Imperfections: Odometer is digital and normally shows a blank screen. It pops on a few times per year and when it does, it shows around 148,000 miles. I estimate that the car actually has over 200,000 miles on it.Passenger side interior door handle is broken (see picture)Driver's side window switch cover is off. All window switches work properly, but the switch plate looks like a circuit board.Driver's side door armrest cubby does not have its lid.A quarter-sized dent near the rear wheel well.No air-conditioningCould use a paint job. Bumper cover and driver's side fender are from a black R1.I removed the fuse to the ABS system, as it was turning on even when the car was off, therefore draining the battery. Car is being sold 'As Is' with not warrantee.
