I've owned this Land Cruiser for the last 13 years. It's been a low-maintenance delight, but I'm 75-years-old now and am moving to Florida. The car is now located in Seabrook, Texas, near Houston. The car (technically it's a truck, since S.U.V.'s hadn't yet been invented) has a 4-speed manual transmission, 2 wheel drive and 4-wheel drive (high and low range), selectable by a shift lever on the floor. It's got Warner lock-out hubs. In 4-wheel drive, low range, it feels like it could drive through a brick wall. It's spent most of its life in 2-wheel drive. I bought the car on E-Bay in November, 2004 and drove it home from Albuquerque to Connecticut. It's never been on a long drive since then. My Land Cruiser is delightfully low-tech. Manual windows, manual seats, manual tilt steering wheel angle and height, manual choke (ALWAYS starts in cold weather), the original radio is AM-FM only and works great. It DOES have air conditioning (cold enough to hang meat), power steering, power brakes, front and rear heaters, Yokohama all-terrain tires with almost-new treads, Old Man Emu Steering Stabilizer, Smittybuilt front bumper with auxiliary lights. OK, what's wrong with it: There's a 3" dent on the left, rear door, thanks to some cluck with a shopping cart. There's a 5" patch on the left side of the driver's seat. You can see it in one of the pictures. The rest of the upholstery is excellent. The headliner has stains in places. It doesn't have a clock or a cruise control, which I miss. It DOESN'T have satellite radio, navigation, blue tooth, backup television and stuff like that. Which I DON'T miss. It DOES have an accurate tach and all gauges. The front end is perfect, the brakes don't pull or squeal, the engine compartment is clean and makes no funny noises. The mileage approximately 14 mpg on the highway in 2-wheel drive. Let's talk about rust, which is always a concern in Land Cruisers. I had the frame-off and the engine-out in August, 2014. The frame was dipped in the foul-smelling gunk that's used on derricks and while the frame no longer smells, the underbelly still has rust. There's rust on the springs and floorboards, but other than that, you'll have to look hard and long for a Land Cruiser this old and this good. You can't see any rust from the inside, nor from the outside, but the rust is going to need attention sooner or later. Take a look at the original mileage.
