Vehicle Detail
I refurbished this Super Hawk extensively and now I'm selling this from my collection. I have a clear PA title in my name. Reason for selling: I don’t ride it enough. Time to pass it along. NOTE: Most of the photos are of its cosmetic flaws. The bike is stunning immediately and overall, but I don’t want to mislead anyone into thinking it's any more/less presentable than it is. Features: Engine and frame numbers of Hondas from this era don’t match exactly. This is close enough that it’s considered matching. I restored this bike using Bill Silver’s two-volume Honda 305 Restoration Guide – both guides will be included in the sale. Engine was bored 20 over – 0.02” – with new pistons and rings, of course Transmission has been “x-ed” so that 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears are close ratio and the “jump” is now between 3rd and 4th. (Stock has the jump occurring between 2nd and 3rd.) Now, the shift from 3rd to 4th is like overdrive. All seals and gaskets were replaced. New kick start shaft, bushing, pawls and springs. New cam chain and tensioner Valves re-lapped New chain, sprockets, most cables. New regulator-rectifier (solid state – Oregon Rectifiers), plugs, wires, points, condensers New exhaust valves New battery as of last month Tank treated and lined with POR-15 Fenders undercoated Chain guard isolated in rubber so it won’t crack. Professionally repainted in an autobody facility. Engine has been properly run-in Included in sale: Original baffles and attaching bolts for each muffler Original side stand (painted) Chromed tank covers in good condition – nearly very good condition. Bill Silver’s Restoration Guides.A set of Emgo reverse megaphone mufflers NIB if buy it now option is used. The bike starts well but is cold-blooded so it takes a minute to warm-up if stone cold. The motor runs fine and I have ridden it up to an hour at a time at speeds over 50 mph. I've taken it as high as 70-75. It has a small leak from the cam cover area where many seals and gaskets converge. I have not been able to identify its source. But it’s reliable and easy to work on. A good first project for someone who wants to ride and learn about old bikes. As far as Hondas go, this is one of the coolest. I’ve been waiting for prices on these to fully ignite, but now it’s time to thin the herd and give it to someone who will enjoy it and take the bike to the next level. I do not know the original mileage as I replaced the damaged speedo during the resto before I got a title for it. I'm thinking 14K/mi... The buyer will be responsible for taking delivery in-person.It's a cool, surprisingly rare bike that's had no small amount of attention brought to it. All it needs is freshened up and that leak sorted. ADDITIONS! I JUST REMEMBERED! SHAME ON ME FOR NOT REMEMBERING THESE THINGS EARLIER. SORRY, EVERYONE!1.) The question about the seat got me thinking...and I remembered that I had to open up -- and add to --the forward mounting brackets on the seat pan in order to get it to align. It's not pretty (hadn't learned to weld yet) but it works just fine. I'll take and add a picture.2.) I was going to café this bike and so cut off the rear seat tabs so the bum stop / boat tail would fit. I had them welded back on and plugs slid into the tubes for extra strength. It's invisible so I've never given it a second thought until now. For someone looking for a pure example of a CB77 frame, this is _not_. I'll take and post a photo of this, too. I have lowered my prices accordingly! Thanks for reading. On May-29-18 at 16:38:11 PDT, seller added the following information: ***ATTENTION*** Hi everyone - I'm adding this caveat because I am not altogether sure what Ebay has allowed to happen to my auction; it's simply beyond me. In my description I wrote that "the buyer will be responsible for taking delivery in-person" and that's exactly what I prefer. Ebay I see has listed an option for getting a "U-ship" bid. That scenario simply cannot work for me. As you consider bidding, please do not count on having the motorcycle shipped to you. That was not my intention for this auction and I will be unable to honor it. I'm not sure how much clearer I can be. I do apologize for any confusion this has caused anyone. Like I said, I have no idea when/where/why Ebay has incorporated this apparent option into my auction, and I truly am sorry. Once the auction is over, I'm asking for a $300 deposit into my paypal account within 48 hrs. After that, if you haven't already come to take delivery, we can discuss when you'll be picking up the motorcycle and bringing the remaining balance. ALSO, I have no idea what happened to my BIN option. (!) If the motorcycle goes to or beyond $2200.00, I'll include the mufflers. Once again, I apologize. Please ask if you have questions.
