It is very unusual to find this combination in a 78 Suburban! The transmission is bullet proof and tows very nicely!! We have been unable to verify if that is actual mileage but based on the condition of the vehicle, it is definitely a possibility!! The gentleman who owned it before us just passed away and he was over 80 years old. The Trailering Special is an unbelievable find and very rare, especially with the 4 speed transmission!! We still can't believe that the front and rear A/C blow cold! This thing will put icicles on the end of your nose! BTW, it has been converted from the old A/C system to the new R134. The condition of this vehicle is outstanding considering that it is 40 years old! It is the 1978 Chevrolet 3/4 Ton Trailering Special Suburban Silverado with a 350 Motor and the 4 Speed Manual Transmission. At some point, it was repainted from its original factory blue color to white. The paint has some fading but is still in remarkable condition. One of the amazing things on this Suburban is the chrome trim that is in exceptional condition! I don't believe it is missing a single piece. Another amazing thing to me is that there is minimal rust if any at all down on the rockers. They look really good! One of the fringe benefits of the paint job is that it has preserved the body quite well. There is a spot of rust just under the left rear window that is 2 inches by 3 inches that I have sprayed with white Rustoleum. There are some other spots on the Suburban that the paint has either faded or is peeling but it looks pretty good. We opted to only wash the Suburban and did not detail the inside or outside or the motor. It has only had a car wash. The motor is in exactly the condition cosmetically that we found it in. I find that eBay buyers do not like to see a detailed engine. We have nothing to hide. We have included nearly 100 photos. The engine runs strong and the Suburban drives very nicely! The lights on the dash don't work so you can't see how fast you are going at night. My wife was following me home one night and kept complaining because I was going 90 mph and didn't know it. This thing really cruises on the open road!!! It shifts nicely and the engine actually runs pretty good. New owner will eventually want to do a tune up for perfection but it is driveable as is right now. We just had two new mufflers put on it and went with performance mufflers. They sound amazing!! See the attached video to hear it running. The battery is strong and has plenty of cranking amps and plenty of juice!! There are definitely some oil leaks as you will see from the undercarriage photos. Probably par for the course on a 40 year old vehicle. My mechanic indicated that the motor in it is a 350 crate motor so somewhere along the line it had a new motor put in it. Clutch feels pretty good and it shifts smoothly. Brakes feel really good and stop it nicely. The ball joints seem solid and everything in the front end feels pretty good. Might be something that will need to be looked at in the next couple of years depending on miles driven. Carpets look good as well and have minimal stains. Headliner is drooping in a couple of spots. Windows are solid and they all roll up and down with no trouble. Windshield is intact with no chips or cracks that I have seen. Running boards are solid and hold my weight with no trouble. Front and rear bumpers are in pretty good shape. Probably a 7.5 out of 10. See photos. Towing mirrors are very nice for those long hauls. Somewhere along the line somebody switched out the front grill and put a GMC grill on it. Don't worry, we have clear title and it says Chevrolet right on it. The tires have tons of tread on them but they are older tires. They are fine to drive on but you will probably want to replace them within the next year or so. The vinyl seats are in amazing condition!! The dash has some cracks in it but is now covered with a nice dash cover. The rocker panels look exceptionally good. I did notice that the metal behind the running boards has deteriorated in some areas(See undercarriage photos). Call Reid now: 435-773-1985.
