This is a classic example of the first generation Audi S8. This German built, aluminum space framed car, is offered in her original color combination of Black Ebony with gray leather interior. The turning of heads when you drive down the street is a reminder of the legacy this car started. Cruising down main street offers a blend of luxury and performance History: 1996 was the first model year for the Audi D2 Models (A8 and S8). Development began in 1994, right after the aluminum space frame technology. The 2001 model is the second facelift of the first generation line up. The S8 features sporty trim upgrades over the A8, a more powerful 4.2 Liter V8, and a modifiied transmission. This example has spent most of it's life in the mild California climate. The owner for most of it's life is a retired college professor. It was originally sold in Florida, and briefly moved to Colorado before settling in California. Overall: Over the years, she has always been well maintained and received loving care at a local dealership. The main owner maintained a stack of dealership service records. Despite being 18 years old, she only has 176000 miles. The last 2 years have seen little use. It does have a new battery. The original owner's manual is included and is an example of the pride of ownership. All 3 original keys are also included. Exterior: This Audi features the original Ebony Black factory paint. The body is in excellent condition, except for a scrape on the side of the rear bumper. It does not appear that it has ever spent time in a body shop. There is some oxidation on the hood and roof, which is typical for a 2001 model. Interior: This hot rod features heated Recaro sport seats. The interior is in typical condition for it's age. All material looks original, and there are some imperfections on the front seats. The rear seats look like they may have never been used. The rear sunscreen still functions. The dash is excellent with no rips, cracks, waviness or repairs. The original radio is still installed with the factory radio code available. It appears that all electronic features are working. Engine:This S8 features a 360 HP version of the 4.2 Liter V8. It idles very smooth, and seems to be in great shape. The timing belt was recently done.Transmission: There is something wrong with the transmission which causes it to go in safe mode, but then it drives fine. Not sure what the problem is, but it is also causing a check engine light which will need to be cleared if you need to pass California smog.
