Vehicle Detail

1972 Jawa 350cc Californian How bad do you want it?! $$$ NO RESERVE $$$ One of a kind...hard to find, low mileage and cared for 6V running 2-stroke beauty! This is a running bike and maintained very well. It is as original as it gets, pictures will speak for the bike. I have had it for several years, stored inside garage with my other bikes. I never wanted to sell it and am frankly sad to let it go. It is truly a good solid bike. Among long rides, I have ridden about 240 miles through WV mountains on one ride, between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM (7000ft to 4000ft) through mountains on another! Otherwise, it has only been around the neighborhood, barely used, stored inside. It is numbers matching, plate on frame, frame number and engine number- all match. I have a clear NM title in my name. The bike is currently in Florida, happy, strong and running at seal level rich jetting unlike its prior lean tuning at Santa Fe, NM (7000ft). I have several crucial and original parts to keep this 6V system running, more importantly, several options to keep this bike running at different altitudes and conditions. There are lot of spares with the bike, there are several pictures and videos! Contact me via Ebay and I'll pass link to more pictures and videos! Need to see something specific or talk to me, let me know via Ebay message. Story before me and ownership: The bike was part of several British models sold in an estate sale in NJ to the prior owner. It arrived in Santa Fe, NM, still remember the day, I was thrilled! The bike is a unique example of old school engineering. The shipper told me that he could not find the key and was worried. The key was still right above the headlamp, original and functional! A Jawa key...:) He didn't know how to kick start and thought the horn was an electric start, well he didn't know what the kicker on a Jawa looked like and was combined with shifter...better yet, a clutchless shifter at that!...Believe it or not, I put fresh gas in it and kicked the bike to life on the 3rd kick! Such is the reliability of this model. Story after Day 1: My neighbor in his 70's fortunately knew about this bike, more importantly about tuning it to altitude and setting advance timing. In his younger days before working on space shuttle programs, he had an Austrian Puch. He hadn't ridden for 35 years and was genuinely excited with the project. We worked on it thoroughly...I had to get parts sourced from Germany, Hungary and Czech Republic. The day it was running perfect, he rode it after 35 years, I haven't seen a man so happy! A memory for life. There are some amazing folks at the North American Jawa Club. If you become the next owner, definitely join the group. The articles are amazing and they are a wealth of old school knowledge. They helped me a lot and got this going a lot better... Here's a list of things done through time and current with bike: - New jets, needle, spring, float and carburetor cleaned (last week) - Exhaust and baffles cleaned - New fuel, inline filter and oil lines - New original Jikov petcock - Oiled and cleaned K&N filter - New PAL original diaphragm horn - New piston rings (piston is stock, cylinder stock and look great) - Wheel bearings cleaned and repacked with waterproof marine grease - New gaskets - New brake shoes (4) - Forks cleaned and serviced with new fork oil to spec - New Avon tires and tubes (The old Barums and this Jawa did an outstanding - New stator - New points and condenser - New speedometer and throttle cable - Fuel tank rust treated and sealed with POR15. - New Motul high performance transmission oil and copper gaskets - New full 2-stroke oil in reservoir - New leather tool bag for the orginal tools that the bike came with! - Head cleaned for carbon deposit - Workshop manual - New bulbs, headlight, running light, indicators all 6V - Battery (After being through 2 Yuasa 6V lead acid batteries and unwanted sulfation, I changed to a Motobatt 6V AGM battery! Its amazing, though this battery is now few years old) - Desperate to keep the bike original, I installed a toggle switch underseat to not drain the battery when switched off. Future improvements and imperfections: - Get a new AGM 6V battery (this works, but not perfect and is past its intended life)- - Chrome is pitted on both rims, rear more. Common with this bike, pictures. - Chrome is no more on tank cap. Rust removal treatment did this. I coated it with POR15 and prime/painted. It can either be chrome painted, full chrome or buy a new one. Cheap (25USD) - Fuel tank paint was damaged (two streaks left and right) also by the rust removal when it leaked from cap. Sad, this happened couple of weeks back! - Battery cover fell off on a ride when the bolt came off. I recovered it, tried to straighten as best as I could, installed new Californian sticker. Keep or replace or repaint. - Basically, chrome and paint the bike if you prefer showroom. Or keep it as is, get it tuned where you will operate and it will guarantee a smile! I will assist as best as I can, I will communicate readily as well. If you are in US and close to FL requiring assistance with shipping, let me know. At additional cost, I can help with shipping, I have a motorcycle trailer. If you are abroad and need assistance with shipping, I will help as best as possible. Bid with confidence! Contact me via Ebay for more information, pictures and running videos. Shipping is your responsibility. I will assist, but you will have to arrange shipping or pickup. Pay the deposit within 24hrs, full payment due in 7 days. I will store the bike only after full payment, it must be picked up no more than a month after payment. ***Disclaimers*** SOLD AS IS!!! This is a 1972 bike (almost 50 years old!), it is not right out of showroom, it was maintained to be ridden and used, not sit in living room. Expect imperfections. Expect a motorcycle that has seen wear, grease, paint, gas, tweaking, oil, stone, dirt, sweat and blood! I may be a detailed person, but am human and cant remember every detail and do make mistakes. This is emotional as is, please be responsible and serious if you bid. Simply be kind. There is a need to sell, I'm not here for fun and time wasting. This is not my business either, I'm a professional engineer, I feed a family and I value time. Cheers and get this awesome unique example of motorcycling history! No Reserve!
