Vehicle Detail
2008 BMW 335xi Specifications: Color: Monaco Blue Chassis: 4-Door Sedan Engine: 3.0L Inline-6 Cylinder Twin-Turbo Transmission: 6-Speed Automatic Drivetrain: All-Wheel DrivePremium Package, Cold Weather Package, Lighting PackageNavigation system (iDrive), Harman Kardon Stereo, Heated Front Seats, Split Folding Rear Seats with Ski Pass, Sunroof, Bi-Xenon Headlamps, Auto Dimming Mirrors, Integrated Universal Remote I purchased this vehicle over a year ago in damaged condition to the rear right quarter panel (see pictures below), repaired it and drove it for several months. I purchased it with 82,118 miles and it now has 85,644 miles. The vehicle ran and drove perfectly apart from the tire wear.I repaired the vehicle by replacing the entire right rear axle with another complete assembly; hub, control arms, brake carrier, spring, CV axle, all attached hardware. Rear shocks were replaced. The battery, battery control unit and wiring were replaced with new parts. The airbags were replaced, the seat was sewn closed and the airbag computer was reset properly. The car was moved to the body work area; quarter panel was pulled, shaped and painted. The replacement rear bumper was painted and installed. All mechanical and body work was done by Running Great Automotive here in Tampa. Parts Replaced: New Genuine BMW battery distribution box with new cables, New Autocraft Gold battery, New Genuine BMW hood struts, New Bilstein OE rear shocks, New Genuine BMW rear passenger’s window regulator, New Genuine BMW jack pads (4), Used complete hub assembly, Used passenger’s side taillight, Used OEM rear bumper, and other miscellaneous parts. All of the Genuine BMW parts, as well as bolts/odds and ends were purchased from my local dealer Reeves BMW of Tampa. I have nearly all of the receipts for parts/labor. The vehicle has the following issues: Rear right wheel is still out of alignment. Took the vehicle to Paul’s Auto Alignment & Collision and they could not align the vehicle properly, which is causing rear tire wear. It only takes about four to five weeks of constant driving to wear the inner corners of the tires. The owner at Paul's could not see anything out of place under the vehicle and stated that the rear subframe (metal bracket assembly between the frame and the suspension) was most probably the issue. We assume it was bent from the accident and would need to be swapped out. This was his best guess but is not a guaranteed diagnosis. Fortunately subframes are inexpensive, but labor is several hours. The car jerks/vibrates back and forth on acceleration. The car didn’t start doing this until recently. When it is in neutral and the engine is revved, it vibrates the car as well. I believe that the motor mounts or the transmission mounts are worn. The car leaks some oil, I believe around the oil filter housing. The body itself isn’t completely straight. The trunk needs some force to latch properly and the body lines are not perfect if you look closely. The paintjob isn’t perfect. There are some dust specks if you take a close look. Overall, though, the car looks very decent. I will say, when I bought the car, it was in excellent condition and still is. The drive belts looked new, the brakes looked new, exterior was very clean and the interior was extremely clean. It looked well maintained. The interior is a little dirty but I plan to give it a vacuum and wipe down. In the months that I used it, the car ran and drove perfectly. No warning lights on the dashboard, no faults. Only the tire pressure monitor sensors which these tires don’t seem to have installed. Overall, this is a car that would need to be completed. It has issues and is far from perfect. I do not have the time to invest in the car anymore. It is drivable, but will need another set of rear tires to safely be driven. I do not recommend it in its current condition. Please let me know if you have any questions. I have included what the car looked like before fixing it. This vehicle is being sold as-is and has been described to the best of my knowledge. I am the owner of this vehicle. In-person inspections are welcome. Thank you for looking.
