Vehicle Detail
2000 Mercedes SLK230 Hard Top Convertible. PRICE DROP and UPDATE: Dropping from over $950 Buy it to 400 starting bid. 1) First buyer flaked and I can't deal with having two cars in MN 'snow removal' parking situations any longer. 2) The car has been sitting after first buyer flaked and I drive around the block every few day but was traveling for 1.5 weeks. The right front tire seems to have lost air/tire bead from hanging out in the snow and is resulting in the car wanting to pull right a bit. 3) Forgot to list that the rearview mirror has the classic auto-dimming 'oil leak'. So that dimming function doesn't work but it was this way when I bought it and I got used to it. I did find a place in Michigan that rebuilds the mirrors to brand-new condition for about $95. 4) I nearly forgot that I have a set of golf clubs in the trunk. Obviously, I'll have to have an auto-body pop the lock/crow it open but the trunk was not salvageable regardless. I mention here because it will possibly be tied down for when it ships. LISTING: Recently awesome auto was a victim of a hit and run while parked. Runs & Drives great. Super solid engine, lots of previous upkeep. Mercy has zero mechanical fault from the incident aside from right front headlamp is out. Front and read body damage pictured. Runs and drives perfectly but body damage is significant enough that I can't deal with it and had already decided new sales job would have to equate to a new car (to have storage room and be able to take high city miles at low cost--bought a hybrid). Love this car and would have kept as a 3 season fun ride. Had plans to repair Chicago-rust patchwork on drivers door also pictured. More minor corrosion in a few other places, as expected. Overall the car (was) very straight. Mechanically and frame-wise is certainly still is. I also have matching factory interior rubberized paint to repair the scratching and rubbing-off of the Mercedes paint, so often a complaint and issue for owners (from new). A great youtube video shows how to easily make interior look like new by dabbing with a sponge and the factory matching paint I have. High mileage (all highway for that matter) are nothing to this car and I believe this would go to 500K easily. Seats and other things in good order for a car this age. No rips. Slight wearing noticable along left upper side flanges on driver seat. Car headliner and retractable top in great condition. Couple dinky issues like the change receptacle doesn't hinge open. Car was always garaged in my care but as mentioned, there is old, non-threatening rust in areas. Underneath car and chassis in great shape. Car is very tight around turns as you expect from SLK. Very special wheels on car and overall gets a ton of looks and compliments even with older paint. Engine super smooth. Transmission and brakes all great. I have always used ultra premium gasoline. There is a slight vibration when the car is in reverse and I don't know what that is but it's never effected anything and gets back to silky smooth in drive or idle. Major work done in my possession has been the serpentine belt, timing belt, brakes, rotors. The battery is only 8 months old. Will probably need tires but they still grip very well. Nice Sony Bluetooth CD/MP3/Aux and great speakers. I have a replacement button for the convertible switch on the center console. Functions perfectly and lights up but the button was cracked. I don't have time for Mercy and I hope you do. I cannot arrange shipping but if desperate I can make a call. Calls will be too difficult for me to field but I'll answer best I can. Car is listed locally and I will pull from auction if sold. Car is parked in Minneapolis, MN. I'm taking it around the block every few days. Thanks for consideration! --Matt
