1965 Mustang Coupe. 2 owner, California car. The original owner purchased the car new here in Southern California. In 1981, he parked it in the garage for a few years and then eventually relocated it to a secured warehouse in Huntington Beach (at Quiksilver clothing). I am the 2nd owner and I purchased it from him in July of 2016 with the intention of building it into a mild resto-mod. I currently have 3 other cars in various stages of repair/restoration and decided it's time to let someone else play with it. It has not been driven since 1981 and will need to be towed. Sadly, I've only worked on the car a few hours in the last 16 months. First, I gave it a bath, then I sprayed Marvel Mystery oil in each cylinder and let it sit overnight. The next day, I turned the crank and rotated the engine completely. Then, I cleaned, prepped and shot the horizontal surfaces (hood, roof and trunk) with Eastwood's 2 component Satin Clear to preserve the patina. The car is amazingly solid and clean (see undercarriage pictures), I sprayed the underside of the car with simple green and hosed it off. That's the original primer. My original goal was to do the car as a "sleeper" with a built motor, keeping the steel wheels and exterior paint (patina) as-is and redo the interior. As I began working on the car, I soon realized that there simply are not very many unmolested Mustangs around anymore. This is a great candidate for a numbers matching restoration as I believe everything is original. One item to note: the driver's door appears to have been over-extended at some point and then closed with the hinge extended which created a small cut in the inside of the door jamb. The door works fine. It's a minor item, but it may not be obvious in the pictures and I don't want the winning bidder to be disappointed in any way, so I wanted to mention it. Please look carefully at the pictures, they accurately represent the condition of the vehicle. The black plates are original to the car (for the past 52 years), the title is clear and the California registration is paid through 2018.
