Vehicle Detail
This is a one owner 1979 Honda CBX 1000 purchased new in Houston, Texas. I just purchased this bike from the original owner in Houston, TX. It's a true time capsule. It's been in storage for 29 years in a dry secured garage and has not seen daylight until I took it out of storage. I did transfer the title into my name. The antique tags are current. The bike just turned over 11,000 miles. Since purchasing the bike I've purchased new Metzler laser tech tires, new battery, & a tune up. The carburetors were supposed to be rebuilt by the mechanic. He just just flat rated the job and did not replace the O-rings between the carburetors where the fuel goes in. It has started to leak around the old o-rings. It has original exhaust pipes in excellent shape with no dents or dings. The pipes do have very minor and sporadic surface rust only underneath the bike where it can't be seen. I did get to ride the Bike for 150 miles. It ran perfect! The Bike starts right up and runs smooth. It has a lot of torque. The turn signals and high and low beams work. Everything works as designed. I'm in my late 60s and not up to driving much. The original gas tank had more rust than I felt comfortable with. The top of the gas tank has some leakage. After using rust remover, it made the top area "oil can " type flexing "of metal. I did not want to try to make this tank work. It does go with the motorcycle but you get another really solid tank. This tank does have some dents but the metal is excellent. This tank was stripped and sealed with rust sealer, just needs painting to match or drive as is. I have the original title and all the paperwork. Also included is the original license plates that were last registered in 1989. The tag was never put on the bike. The bike just turned over 11,000 miles. If you look at the paper work closely you can see where it was purchased in Houston, Texas. I have the original owners brochure that was in the side panel. It's in excellent condition. The bike has the original tools and case that were never used. It also has the original shop manual that goes with the Bike as well. The original owner was in his mid-forties when he purchased the bike. It was never hot-rodded. This is a rare find indeed with this low mileage, completely original Bike, except for the new battery and tires. This is a true time capsule being inside a dry secured garage for 29 years before seeing daylight again. If you have any questions please call me at (936) 760-2191 before bidding. A $500 deposit is required within 48 hours of the winning bid. The rest paid in cash before loading on transport. The buyer is responsible for shipping. I'm located in Willis, Texas right off of interstate I-45. Willis is a suburb north of Houston, Texas. I'M SELLING THIS FOR A FRIEND. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS GIVE MIKE A CALL AT 936-760-2191
