Vehicle Detail
If you are looking for an EASY winter project, this is a good one! This R75/5 was my neighbor's bike which I acquired about 2 years ago. It runs, stops, shifts and brakes very well. It had a recent valve job to allow use of today's fuel, cylinder boring, new rings and dual-plugged heads. It was a European delivery bike brought to the States many years ago. It has 40,xxx kilometers showing on the clock which I was told are accurate. The bike had a big ugly Windjammer fairing on it which I removed. As a result, the wiring needs to be sorted/cleaned up to remove the typical extra nonsense of that fairing. I was going to just replace the entire harness, but it really isn't necessary as long as you are good with soldering and shrink-tubing. It honestly needs a weekend of easy electrical cleanup....as well as a new headlight lens (which I broke when I removed the fairing....ugh!!!!! You can have the fairing too if you want it, no additional charge. I also have a set of decent Craven panniers. These will be made available to the winning bidder at an addition cost. The serial number stamped into the block matches the frame and the title, so it's a "numbers matching" bike. Tires are in great shape, the mufflers are aftermarket MAC type and are in nice condition....no rust. The original tank liner is in great shape. When I got the bike I drained all the fuel from the tank and the carbs, so there are no worries about gummed up internals. Battery will likely require a re-charge due to sitting. Rear fender needs to be bolted up.....the rear bolts were removed to remove the panniers that came on it. Like I said, simple stuff and this bike will be ride-ready in a weekend. This is a great R75/5....1973 was the final year of production for these, so it has all of the internal factory improvements....it's THE one to have! It needs very little work to become a nice rider. Selling many of my BMW's soon to downsize the collection, otherwise I'd keep this one. Selling at NO RESERVE. Thanks for looking, and good luck! Buyer arranges and pays for transportation. Call or text 917-952-1680 with questions. On Dec-29-17 at 14:00:47 PST, seller added the following information: I will spend a little time with it this weekend and get the rear fender bolted up properly so it transports without damage. Also, forgot to mention that it comes with the under seat tool tray and a set of factory tools. On Dec-31-17 at 13:08:43 PST, seller added the following information: I spent some time today and bolted up the rear fender. All is well now. I also added the tool tray and the factory tool roll under the seat. In addition, I found a nice set of chrome toaster side battery covers which can come with the bike if the new owner wants them. I have photos with the toaster covers on the bike. Contact me if you want these photos, or any other specific photos of the bike. The bike is in riding condition right now, this a great opportunity to get a very original and un-molested R75/5 before they rise out of reach in value like the /2's have! Happy 2018!
