Vehicle Detail
2003 VW TURBO BEETLE FOR SALE "MECHANIC’S SPECIAL!" Selling this for my girlfriend. She just bought another car because she didn’t want to get into the questionable repairs. It is a 2003 1.8 Liter Turbo. It's the special edition lime green one with the matching two-tone seats and wheels. I would consider this a MECHANIC’S SPECIAL as it is not running.I believe it has in the neighborhood of 160,000 miles on it...plus or minus. I'll try and confirm the exact miles. It sounds like it lost compression when I tried to start it and took it to a VW mechanic who confirmed (for the tidy sum of $500…crazy.) that the compression is off in two cylinders so I believe the head needs to be taken off to truly inspect it and perhaps the head needs to be machined. She/we just don’t want to get into that. Otherwise, it was a great running, QUICK car. BRAND NEW brakes (rotors and pads) and tires since I just replaced those for her prior to this happening. Paint is very faded and clear coat peeling, as is very common on these, on the hood and fenders and trunk lid. Interior is in pretty decent condition. Real pretty seats and color combination. Wheels are okay but need a little attention. We were going to powder coat them black and reattach the matching green inserts and wrap the faded paint areas to match. Though that would look cool. A/C doesn't work but for $75 extra dollars I'll include a new compressor (installed and then took it out because was going to sell it separately) and suction hose that I purchased. Looks like the suction hose had some dye residue or something in it so that is why I was going to replace that as well. The only other issue was a hole in the exhaust manifold that didn’t get to replace but it’s fairly inexpensive just a bit of a pain to get to but if someone is doing the rest of the repairs it would be much easier. The vehicle is located in Manteno, Illinois and Buyer is responsible for pick-up and shipping. She had another Beetle that she sold recently that someone on uShip charged about $450 for about 1,000 miles if that gives you some idea. I’ve tried to list everything I could think of off the top of my head. Do not hesitate to contact me or e-mail me with any questions. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
