Vehicle Detail

Selling this for my girlfriend. I will be honest about what I know about it and I have previously driven it. I would call it a Mechanic's Special as it's currently not running. It was running less than two weeks ago but then broke down on her way home. As far as we can tell the timing belt has slipped off. What damage that may have caused we are unclear as we just had it towed back and put in her driveway. Prior to that it was running well but here were the problems. There was a hole in the exhaust manifold that made it sound loud particularly upon starting. There are some idiot lights on and a buzzer that comes on occasionally but that seems just to be an electrically glitch from the sensor for the convertible showing it didn't fully close when it had. The top seam of the rear window of the convertible is not perfectly intact but doesn't leak. When sold to her earlier this year it was indicated that this was not the original engine and although the speedometer shows 130,000 it was represented that the engine only had about 85,000 miles. That being said the speedometer and consequently the odometer wasn't working since she purchased it but has driven it no more than 2,500 miles since then. A/C doesn't work but believe that it may just need a recharge since I think the compressor doesn't work when it's low as a fail safe but not sure. It's a convertible so never bothered to try and charge it. New alternator was installed several weeks ago. I just replaced the power steering hose two weeks ago as well since she had a leak there so no problem there now. No other leaks or anything. Only other issue it had was the serpentine belt slipping off but put a new tensioner on there so that should be okay. Body-wise the hood has a few tiny rust spots and there is a small crack in the passenger front fender. Over all paint is not too bad. Interior is black leather in nice condition. She is also selling another Beetle that she owned prior to this so I will post that in a separate auction. If your a VW Beetle person and want to buy both we'll make you a deal. The other one is a 2003 2.0 Liter Turbo Special Green Edition that is also not running at the moment. Check the other listing for those details and I'll post it soon. Both vehicles are located in Manteno, Illinois and Buyer must arrange for shipping or transportation. Thanks for looking! Do not hesitate to contact me or e-mail me with any questions!
