1966 Buick Skylark Coupe with 340 4V engine rated at 260 hp. Options on the car include Power Steering, Air Conditioning, that does work, Bench seat with fold down arm rest, the car had factory GM Disc Brakes installed when the car was restored. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION 340 four barrel engine, that was rebuilt apprx 15 years ago. It runs out very nice, smooth idle, and pulls well through the power band. I removed the original carb off, as it was leaking and I couldnt get it to idle correctly, and replaced it with a new Edlebrock 600 cfm with electric choke. Now all you do is tap the accelerator once to set the choke and it will fire on first turn. The carb has been set and tuned to the engine and really runs well. The original is in a box and will be sent with the car. I do not have details on the build, other than what has been told to me, as the owner has passed away The car is equipped with Air Conditioning and it works, I had it recharged this spring and blows cold. Ive had the car out on 90+ days, and the AC felt good to be able to turn it on The original 300 trans was slipping a bit from low to high, it worked, but was a big annoyance. I researched out the best remedy and found the TH 350 was a direct replacement. I had a TH 350 completely rebuilt with shift kit and had it all professionally installed. Linkages are correct, and the gear shift indicator lines up perfectly on the column. The TH 350 completely changed how the car performed, the lower first gear ratios woke the engine up. The car will now roast the back tire and also break loose again in second gear. The car does not have a posi rear end. That never happened when the 300 trans was in there. Had the choice for this transmission been available in this car, back in 66, the 300 would have never sold. It runs that much better INTERIOR Most all of the interior of the car is original, from door panels to seats to carpet. A section of the drivers seat was replaced at some time. Everything is presentable and nice. The dash is in good condition, one small split in the far left corner, the chrome is clean and not pitted. The radio does work, but the speaker is a bit dry, so sound quality out of the AM band isn't perfect any longer. I have used a small stereo with my IPhone for music. Whole lot easier than taking the dash apart to change the radio and speakers. The original factory floor mats will be reinstalled as they are still in good condition. The carpeted mats were a personal choice BODY The car had been repainted approximately 15 years ago, and the paint has held up very well, few nicks and small scratches but nothing that stands out when looking at it. Its not GS Nationals show quality, but I also was not ashamed when I showed the car at a large local show two weeks ago. I have buffed the paint and put a good quality sealer and wax on, and it really does look nice. The previous owner had put a carpet in the trunk to keep down moisture issues from the dreaded factory mats. I have not seen issues with leaks even when the car was parked outside the office one afternoon in a pouring rain. (it was sunny that morning) I had a embroidered floor carpet from another 67 I owned years ago, and put in the trunk over the black carpet that had been installed, it dressed up the trunk nicely STEERING, BRAKES & TIRES The car really drives out pretty well, in fact it tracks very straight on the road. You don't feel the typical GM wander when you cross a crack or rut in the road, and there is no play in the steering wheel. Point the car where you want to go and it runs true. I was on the highway through town the other day where road construction was happening. The lanes narrowed to a point that does allow for mis judgements, and then jogs around the construction. At the suggested speed of 55 mph, I never felt uncomfortable about where the car was going to track. The disc brakes were added when the car was restored. they are factory GM brakes, and I had all new pads and shoes installed on all four corners. The car does stop very well, and feels like a modern car. Tires are all in good condition and don't have many miles on them at all. All in all, a well maintained and cared for car, that drives out well and looks good.
