Vehicle Detail
I bought this car off ebay in January of 2015. I has been very reliable for us and we have used it as a family car. When I got it had 135k on the clock. Right away I changed the oil and filter, and serviced the transmission. It drove fine, but I was unsure of maintenance up to that point. I flushed the trans fluid, replaced the trans filter, replaced the conductor plate, and also replaced the wire harness seal. This car has a new convenience battery, and has new brake pads all the way around about 3000 miles ago. The tires have more than 70% and are matching Goodyear Eagle all season tires. I also did all the glow plugs after one failed last year. The car drives very well and I would take it anyway. The AC works great! The oil and filter were just done again today. I only use Mann filters and Mobil 1 oil. When I did the trans it got Mercedes Fluids and parts. I own (2) of these cars in the same year and color. This one I would rather keep, but my wife likes the other one that has less miles on it. With higher miles the engine is actually broken in. This car has returned 45 miles to the gallon for me before. 40 MPG is normal for it on the highway, and about 33 city. 700 miles per tank or pretty close to that is average for us. It has tons of torque and I believe this was one of Mercedes best engines ever. The car is a more stripped down version with fewer options. (I think I have the window sticker filed, this car had an MSRP of $55k back in 05) A plus in my book, because Mercedes parts are expensive as everyone knows. It does have rain sensing wipers, power front seats with memory, power windows, power trunk latch, and power and auto dimming mirrors. It doesn't have the Harmon stereo, but my other one does. I think this stereo is just as good if not better. There's a 3.5 mm headphone jack in the glove box to connect to an ipod or phone. Now for the bad. The previous owner hit something with the front bumper (see photos). The hood gap there is not great, but most people wouldn't notice. One of the black plastic grill parts is missing near the fog light. There is no rust to speak of, but has some dents and scrapes around. The wheels don't look great either with clear coat flaking off. The interior is pretty good, but is missing the passenger side main visor, and the main cup holder in the front.
