Vehicle Detail

Yes, you read that right, a 1974 Honda 750 first generation with just 300+ miles on it. Found this bike in a garage 5 years ago and it hadn't been registered since 1987. When I purchased it, the rings were frozen (seized), I decided to have the engine opened up for a complete inspection. Nothing was needed except for new rings (standard size), cylinder honing and new gaskets. I've included a photo of the engine being disassembled and inspected to show how clean it is with no carbon or browning in the area around the roller bearings on the crankshaft. This part of the work was done by my local Honda dealer. I put on NOS turn signals, replaced the drive chain and the battery with a sealed lead acid one, replaced rubber bits such as foot pegs with NOS, put new repro Continental tires and tubes (copies of the tires that were on it), had the fuel tank flushed, put in a new fuel petcock, replaced and overhauled the braking system front and rear, the front forks were overhauled, replaced old ignition parts, etc., etc. I had the carbs overhauled and tuned just last month, and had the oil changed, too. It is mechanically sound and safe, and runs great. I've included shots of the tires that still have the little nipples on them--they are like new. I have receipts for all the work that was done and also have the original bill of sale among other tidbits from previous owners. Note from the photo that the bike hadn't been registered since 1987, but all the motor vehicle paperwork is up to date and clear. I've owned it 5 years. Since the mileage is so low and the bike is so original, I didn't want to start polishing it up to be a show bike, but kept as an honest, original survivor. The paint is all original (no dents in the tank) as is the seat. Even the exhaust system is original (very rare for the pipes and mufflers to survive this long). The aluminum has oxidized on the crankcase and front forks, but the patina fits a bike of this age. It's not perfect and there is a slight dimple in the front fender, among other issues, that probably happened in the 30+ years in the garage. This bike is a real head-turner whenever I ride it. I'm in the LA area if you wish to see the bike in person. Where else are you going to find another one with this mileage for a 43 year old classic, and the first Japanese 'super-bike'? Unfortunately, I have to sell the bike due to health reasons. I have youtube videos of the bike being ridden, and a walk-around and engine start. Unfortunately, ebay won't allow links in the description. Email if you're interested.
