I purchased the GT550 from my wife’s friend’s friend approximately 10 years ago. The bike was very original with the exception of chopper style front forks, ape hangers and a terrible black paint job on the tank and engine. The wiring harness for some reason was totally trashed and may have been the reason for it being laid up in the 1980s. It had been garaged for the most of its life so it was a good basis for a restoration. I also purchased another GT550J parts bike and gathered many spares along the way - this is also being auctioned too. This is a reluctant sale as I put a lot of time and effort into it, however I'm downsizing my small collection as I have relocated to the west coast and do not have the room or time. The restoration resulted in a nut and bolt restoration with extensive use of NOS parts! The bike is a GT550J 1972. Gearbox and engine oil also need to be added. It has not been started since the restoration.
