I purchased this '78 GL1000 as a back up bike for a trip that my father-in-law and I took to the Black Hills of South Dakota this summer. We ended up needing to use this motorcycle on the trip at the last minute. This Honda performed flawlessly on the road trip, racking up over 1,500 miles in one week. This Honda runs GREAT! This GL1000 was purchased new nearby in Winona, MN at Village Honda. What's great about Minnesota motorcycles is that they are only driven 3 months a year usually. So this one has been preserved nicely. This Gold Wing had over $1000 put into rebuilding the carbs and synching them at the Honda dealer. (receipt included) This makes this GL1000 start and run awesome! In the last 6 months or so this Honda has had a new starter, new starter relay, new battery, NOS (new old stock) genuine Honda seat installed, and new fuel pump. The front tire is good, but I would recommend replacing the rear tire. The brakes are good, and the bike rides and handles just as it should. I recently converted the bike back to a Naked Wing (the way it would have come from the Honda dealership in 1978). If you prefer more of a full dresser, you may take the Vetter Windjammer SS fairing, aftermarket trunk and bags, highway pegs, and so on. (But it will be up to you to reinstall that setup.)
