Vehicle Detail

Important - Please make sure you read what to know before bidding at the bottom. I am a 50 yr old private owner that bought the car in 2010 (79kmi) with a damaged 5-speed transmission. If you know these cars, you know that the 5-speed and the automatic transmissions are weak and been a nightmare for owners along with other issues of that generation. At the end, we love these cars no matter what. So, instead of fixing the 5-speed I converted it with a 6-speed R53 Model (supercharged) for a more reliable fix. The transmission conversion required a 6-speed transmission (35kmi from a R53 salvage car), OEM new 6-speed transmission holding mount, new flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate (Exedy and then Valeo) and new starter (not the same flywheel tooth pitch), new both cv axles (chinese crap I needed to replace with OEM parts 20kmi later), complete cable shifting mechanism (salvage R53) for a 6-speed, new OEM clutch slave cylinder, new OEM clutch hydraulic line (R53). I have not had any transmission issues whatsoever (drove 80kmi) since converted. I have always received positive praise from the mechanics the couple of times I went to the Mini dealership on how neat and OEM like it turned out. The other issue I needed to address right off was the leaking sunroof inside the car. This is due to disconnected sunroof drain tubes. Removed the carpets, cleaned and dried them. What was done maintenance wise recently or last: 1) BMW/Mini recall for the power steering pump and cooling fan (less than 5kmi) 2) All front suspension done (ball joints, tie rod ends, A arms bushings) (40kmi ago) 3) All wheel bearings front and rear (25kmi ago or less) 4) All brake pads and discs front and rear (a year ago but I didn't drive the car since) 5) Repainted the rear driver quarter panel due to rear tale light rust (common on that generation) 6) OEM emblems front and rear, rear trunk lid chrome license plate light holder 7) OEM Salvage door lock mechanisms 8) OEM Mini radio amplifier(another dreaded issue for any owners), swapped with a converted BMW unit 9) Bottom driver seat swapped with an OEM leather cover 10) Spark plugs (80kmi ago) 10) Ignition cables Bosch (40kmi ago) 11) OEM air filter (5kmi ago), I also include a brand new spare one) 12) One oxygen sensor (5kmi ago) 13) Replaced the Exedy clutch and flywheel assembly due to a workmanship issue with the clutch plate. Could not just get the clutch plate with Exide, so instead I replaced the whole shoe bang with Valeo (5kmi ago) 14) Both chinese cv axles replaced by OEM (R53 salvage) and cv rubber boots redone at the same time 15) Swapped interior painted grey finish with OEM Chrome accent bezels 16) Swapped the steering wheel with a leather OEM type 17) Swapped the 5-speed shifter knob with a new OEM 6-speed one 16) Remus rear exhaust (sounds really nice, not too loud or too deep) 17) Tinted windows 35% shade except driver window 18) Accessory serpentine belt (a year ago but I didn't drive the car since) 19) Installed Craven Speed Short throw shifter 20) Get a second car key cut but not coded yet As you can see, I have always tried to keep up with the preventive and corrective maintenance all along. I made my decision to sell the car more than a year ago (basically stored, only driven a couple of times) but never found time to post it on EBay which takes some time with the pictures set up and with putting a complete description, etc. I wanted to disclose everything about the car. The car looks really nice and rides tight and is still a head turner when you drive by, even till now. Air conditioning, DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), heated seat, sunroof, rain sensor wiper intermittent, all work fine. Seats are leatherette type, except the driver bottom seat which is leather and has the exact same color. The exterior paint is buffed and waxed just done this winter while it was seating. Attention: a) I did not change oil yet (4kmi ago) so the winner could request me to change it before picking up or to leave it as-is (included with a new oil filter) so the winner can see the condition of the oil b) The only cluster light on is the wear brake pads warning light. I did replace with a new OEM sensor(front), (rear has always been by-passed) but maybe there is still a bad connection, It didn't bother me since it happened just about the time I was not driving it on a regular basis, winner should be able to address easily c) The CD player acts sometime but the AM/FM radio works. There is a Ipod connection( never used). If you are a car music fan, you might want to address that. Used OEM unit now sells for less than 50$ d) The windshield has a crack ~6in (fixed but still visible) at the bottom left hand side (just behind the inspection and registration labels). Obviously not visible and the car passed the NY State inspection with it 2 times already. I don't believe you need to address e) There is a couple of rust bubbles behind the paint below the gas cap and the passenger taillight(you can see on the picture), that's about it. The paint chips on the hood were addressed but still visible if you look closely. The car was driven in the snow 3 1/2 winters during my ownership (previously the car was in Maryland) and I got the car rust inhibitor treated during that time (you might notice the plugs). I included pictures of the underframe for you to judge. Not bad at all. f) Wiper blades could be replaced (40$) g) The second car key to be coded h) Finally, the car is sold with the OEM 5 spoke wheels(you can see in one of the pictures) and the tires(winter) would need to be replaced. The wheels condition are 7-8 out of 10. Minimal curb rashes. The tires are basically the only thing you need to take during your initial ownership Important Notes: Some of you probably did not read it all but at least should read the following. I started the posting to a fair low price I believe. The car has still a good and long life to go and would certainly meets a lot of buyers seeking this model car and price range. There is no doubt in my mind. There is not that many issues to address (see above), in fact most of it, is not even related to age, car make and/or model. The buyer takes responsibility of shipment. I will assist. If you want me to drive (<250mi) it to you, I can do that if you pay the gas and if paid in full prior leaving. I would have to drive 2 cars though so I can come back. Let me know if there are details that I missed to disclose that is important to you or specific pictures you would like. Canadian buyers are welcome. No, don't ask me if I would ship overseas or accept any type of check. This is clear, cash in person or Paypal. My free time is as priceless as yours. I have a clear with no lien title on hand.
