Vehicle Detail
1979 Ford Bronco XLT Ranger with every option but the factory CB and OEM roll bar--though it has a full cage installed. One owner, in the family since new. I hate to sell it, but life often throws you some curves. Things change. Insert your reasoning here. This Bronco has been garage kept and has been completely gone over several times in its 38 year life. Last summer, we went through it again, and haven't put 500 miles on since. This truck was meant to be a badass, bulletproof driver, not some trailer queen show truck. It was rebuilt with longevity and reliability in mind. The paint is not perfect, but the body is rock solid and there is no rust. Front I nner wheel splash shields were modified and fitted the rear. All the Ranger XLT trim is there. Quarters were professionally replaced with Ford stampings and wheel houses, tailgate is solid, rear window works, and the truck is very straight. Frame is minty. It's the perfect vehicle for Armageddon, or protecting yourself and your family during the upcoming Republican -Democrat civil wars. Or, use it as s daily driver and make a statement. Interior has the original captains chairs and flip fold seats which have been professionally redone in the proper factory upholstery (sourced at an incredible $90 per yard from SEM in Oregon, with new foam and hardware, new OEM carpet and lower trim panels. The door panels are the original wood grain XLT Ranger units with matching factory inner quarter panel trim and armrests. All interior conveniencece--lights work, and there's a new Sony AM/FM/CD/MP3/USB stereo, amp, four three way speakers and new wiring. Everything works--as I said, the AC has new everything and is ice cold. Mechanical: -400M rebuilt by Brougher's, RV cam, new treated 400 crankshaft was undercut and assembly balanced for a small stroke with flat top pistons, new rods with ARP Wave-loc bolts, Cloyes .040 double roller timing chain, Clevite tri-coats, worked Cleveland 2V heads with stainless valves and hardened seats, Edelbrock 4V aluminum intake with brand new Holley 600 vac with electric choke, ceramic coated headers, 2 1/2 true dual stainless pipes into 40 Flowmasters. New Ford dizzy. Mobil 1 only since day one. HD Setrab oil cooler and transmission coolers, Davis 4 core aluminum radiator, Flowkooler billet water pump, distilled wat All new belts, hoses, Ford Racing plug wires, plugs. -air conditioning system is factory and every part brand new. Ice cold! -C6 transmission by JPT in Michigan, stock stall but bulletproof internals and HD cooler. Mobil 1 since day one. Setrab transmission cooler. -NP203 transfer case with part time conversion. New chain, seals, and Mobil 1 since day one. New Warn premium lockouts. Have rebuilt NP205 that goes along with the sale with all adaptor brackets and mount. -Fresh HD driveshafts and u-joints by Pittsburgh Driveline. -Front and rear differentials 3.55 gear, fresh Mobil 1 gear lube. Yukon D44 and 9" axles from Bronco Graveyard. -Quad shocks front and rear. -New poly body mounts and hardware all around. -New poly suspension bushings all around. New brakes (rotors/drums/bearings/pads/shoes) all around, and upgraded to F350 master cylinder and double booster. Brand new twin Odyssey 1500 batteries with shut off switches and all new primary wiring. Alternator is a 200 amp Powermaster, and batteries can be independently tested for condition via a momentary switch and voltmeter. Other electrical upgrades include (4) 6" KC Daylighters, automatic electric fan (in addition to clutch mounted stock unit) that can be manually overrides. All gauges work, including the auxilliary units. All new weatherstripping and seals, stainless screws and hardware throughout, tilt steering wheel. Fresh 33-10/15s. And a lot more. This truck has always been well-maintained and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere tomorrow. My dad bought this truck new in Florida, and I grew up in it. We regularly drove it between Florida and Pittsburgh with out ever so much as a glitch. He fell ill and we restored it hoping to keep his head and heart in the game, but didn't live to see it finished. It's been sealed in a climate controlled garage since then, and hasn't seen a drop of snow or rain since it was finished. I have all the receipts and a 5" file full of dealer information, the original brochure, and a complete set of Ford Factory Service Manuals with the wiring diagrams. I will also throw in any other spare parts I have for it, from the aforementioned NP205, tailgate and window glass, electrics and hard to find trim pieces, along with two sets of original hubcaps. If you're looking for a great classic full size Bronco, you will not find a more sorted, reliable, optioned one anywhere. Drive it everywhere in complete comfort with complete confidence. On Jun-22-17 at 17:40:19 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had several questions I thought I'd answer here, as well add some photos. 1. I have two sets of hubcaps that go along with Bronco, OEM dog dishes and OEM turbines. The steel wheels are Ford OEM, but the original steel wagon wheels are long gone. 2. The Bronco is running the stock 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern with all new lugs and studs. 3. The Bronco does have an F350 brake upgrade consisting of the master cylinder and power booster. It runs Thunderbird front calipers with larger steel pistons, and the F350 rear wheel cylinders and HD EBC pads and shoes. All new hardware, 4. The Bronco is running the largest piston store-bought gas shocks with retrofitted urethan bushings--2 on each wheel for a total of 8. 5. The lower part of the tailgatet below the XLT trim is good, solid, and not rusty, but is coated with a textured bed lines Ted inside and out, then primed and painted. The posted photo is picking up the reflection from the top of the bumper. 6. The floors, body mounts, and frame are great, though I apologize for the quality of the shots--my uncle tried as best he could to take them in the small one car garage it's stored in. I will answer all your questions promptly and try to get more pics if you need though because I'm on an iPhone, I cannot add more pics directly to the auction without going through eBay. I can email them to you if you so desire. As I've said, the truck is in great condition and though restored to better than new, is and never was a trailer queen and the only rotisserie it ever saw was over a fire pit while camping. It's been properly driven and maintained prior to being refurbished, and will take you anywhere you want to go without hesitation. Still, I'm selling it AS IS with no warranties of any kind. Thanks for looking and bidding! On Jun-25-17 at 18:21:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Got some additional questions I thought I'd list: 7. The Bronco is located 30-40 minutes from Pittsburgh International Airport not more than a minute or two off the local Parkway. Bidders are more than welcome to come see and drive it prior to auction's end, but please give us as much notice as possible. If you intend to fly in and drive it back home, we're happy to meet you at the airport and either give you a ride in, or bring the Bronco and spare parts along and complete the transaction there. Your call--just let us know if you intend to go either route. 8. Towing package: For trailers up to 2000 pounds Ford's tow package included an extra cooling package, wiring harness, heavy duty flasher, and emblem For trailers above 2000 pounds, Ford's heavy duty towing package included Heavy Duty suspension (HD front springs, HD rear shocks, and rear stabilizer bar), 60 amp alternator, 68 amp hour maintenance free battery, external oil cooler with selectshift dual horns, oil pressure gauge, ammeter and bright recreational mirrors Oddly, it only brought the GVW up to 6550 from 6100. This Bronco came with both the handling package and HD towing set up, however the the mirrors have been upgraded (as the Western-style fold-a-ways had a propensity to rust out the doors at the mounting points), the transmission cooler upgraded to a heavy duty Setrab unit with -AN fittings and custom hydraulic grade lines, auxiliary oil, bolt and water temp gauges in addition to the factory in-dash units that still operate, HD leveling coils, Deaver one-ton rear leafs, and, of course, HD quad shocks both front and rear (4 shocks per axle). It also has an upgraded Class IV hitch, and while the trailer pigtail is present, the old plug has been removed. If I haven't mentioned it, this Bronco has a 4-core Ron Davis radiator filled with distilled water and HD antifreeze. It also has an electric fan that runs in either auto or manual, in addition to the stock mechanical fan. And yes, there is a full radiator shroud. Years ago we pulled a 30' Airstream with it with no problems on the stock set up, but the last time it towed anything was probably 1995. It's definitely capable of towing well over the HD factory rating due to our upgrades, but we simply never had reason to pull anything since back in the day. Hope this helps and happy bidding.
