Vehicle Detail

96 Normal 0 false false false EN-US ZH-CN AR-SA Shown here is a 1968 Bonneville restored by Keith Martin, nationally-known Triumph expert and owner of Big D Cycle in Dallas. This is my second purchase of a classic cycle acquired for display in my full service truckstops. I bought this one in 2006 with the odometer showing the same 5264 miles as when acquired upon restoration. A few months before he completed this project Keith asked my permission to 'take a little artistic license' and build it according to his tastes and to which I readily agreed. Turns out he didn't like the front cable and brake assembly on the '68 models, saying it was "too strung out, loose" so he used a 1969 assembly which, he pointed out, "is tucked and more streamlined". He then added a 1967 tail light assembly, which "was the best looking tail light Triumph ever had." Everything else is stock '68. I never heard this bike run but, as with my other 3 restorations, Keith said he ran it to be sure everything was in perfect working order. Per my intentions for displaying this bike Keith prepped it by draining the gas tank and crankcase, sprayed both with mineral oil and then also removed the battery as I had commissioned this bike specifically for display. Because this bike has been on display for over 10 years now, there are very small scuffs in the paint (like micro-scratches, easier seen under florescent lighting) and other light wear due to people fondling it from beyond the theater barrier ropes I had added to this location to keep customers at arm's length. This bike shouldn't take much to bring it back, but please understand that it has been dry dusted by housekeeping and occasionally fondled by fantasizing customers. There are probably dust bunnies under the seat. The tires may also have slow leaks and we have to periodically add air. I can't even guess at how many people have simply stopped to admire this bike and my other bikes, taken pics with their smart phones or remembered ours as that cool restaurant with 'those motorcycles'. This comes with a clear Texas title and I will consider trades up or down, even including other bikes I have listed on Ebay (see my collection of three Triumphs in Denton, Texas being sold as a low reserve set; also, a 1966 and 1967 at this same location. Trades I will consider are for a good, working Airstream Travel Trailer, solid 3/4 ton diesel work truck or anything of interest. Thanks for looking. On Jun-10-17 at 09:58:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Based on one of the comments offered I asked a trusted mechanic at this location (a truckstop I operate) to verify the serial number on the frame. It appears as BC12793 T120R which, after researching these numbers on the internet, makes this a 1969 bike as suggested. Thing is, all my paperwork including the bill of sale and Texas title say this is a 1968. With apologies to you all and I completely understand if you cease bidding, because my information was taken at face value and is/was inaccurate. I'm not a motorcycle guy, just that I enjoy the beauty of these bikes and they've served my purpose for display. If it doesn't sell I can re-list it or work something else out. Thanks for understanding.
