Vehicle Detail
1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie 500 Sunliner Convertible 292 V8 2BBL 3 Speed on the ColumnPLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING It’s a mouth full, but that’s what it is. This is not a 100 point, numbers matching trailer queen. Then again it’s not $50,000 either. Very reasonable reserve and a very reasonable Buy It Now. It’s a driver. Runs well, looks decent. Have taken it to local shows and the Syracuse Nationals in the past. We just don’t use it like we used to and it’s time to pass it on for someone else to enjoy. Please read all of the description. This is not a perfect car but it’s a nice driver. Don’t ask me how many points it would score or what number the condition is. That’s all subjective. Sold on a bill of sale and transfer of current valid registration. New York State does not have or require titles for cars this old. We own this car free and clear. No liens. Restored in 1992. It’s held up well. We have owned since 2003. We bought from man who had it restored. Have Registrations to back up. Odometer shows just over 90,000. I believe this to be correct. Engine is not a numbers matching. It’s a period 292 Y Block with a Holley 2 BBL. Engine was rebuilt during the restoration. The top end of the engine was rebuilt in 2004 and new rods, valve seals, and gaskets all installed. All valves adjusted at that time. It runs well. No excessive exhaust smoke. A little on start up once in awhile. It has classic glass packs on a true dual exhaust and sounds good. Car shifts well. It has drum brakes all around. They perform as expected. This is a true late 50’s boulevard cruiser. It will run at high way speeds all day long but it drives and stops like a late 50’s car. You have to plan ahead and drive defensively. Not original colors. According to codes on ID tag is was a white car with a straight 6. This can be confirmed in some of the old pictures of the car's restoration. Again, this is a driver not a 100 point concours car. I have the nice polished rear fender skirts as well. After market seat belts installed everywhere except for driver. Top is nice. Rear window is nice and clear. Rear window zipper, the zipper slide is broken. The zipper is all brass. It’s a size 10 zipper. No rips or tears in anything. Mechanicals work as they should. Speedometer works well. New gear installed in transmission. Transmission was gone through when this was changed and it works very smoothly. Turn signal works one way but you have to manually shut it off the other way. The heater is NOT hooked up. I plugged the hoses. Does not affect operation of car at all. Engine runs as it should. It’s never over heated on me. Oil just changed with a new Motorcraft filter. Just greased. Petronix ignition installed and works well. Engine bay presents very well. Autolite cover on the modern battery for looks only. Has wide white wall radials as you can see. They are in great shape with lots of tread left. Rims were sandblasted and powder coated black a couple years ago. Sunray caps added to original hubcaps. Chrome is nice. Some on the car was left original. It has had some body work done. Doors, hood, trunk, and windows all work as they should but may not line up perfectly. I installed a new trunk seal and new bumpers on the hood. There are a few little bubbles here and there around door edges. There was a hole repaired on driver’s side floor when it was restored. Paint displays well and shines, but it’s not perfect. NEW GAS TANK Last year. Gauges all operate as they should. Interior light does not work. Aftermarket AM/FM cassette deck radio. NEW WINDSHIELD. If you ever replaced one of these you know these are expensive on these models due to the curved glass. Have receipts on this. Top is nice. Operates as it should and the motor is strong. Sometimes the switch can be a little temperamental. I have more pics or can take pics of anything you may want to see. I can even video it running and send that to you if you wish. Inspections are welcome prior to bidding if you wish. Car is on our property. We have plenty of room for tractor trailers and large truck and trailers to load if needed. All pics taken in natural light. No flash. . This is a 58 year old automobile. It runs well, but drives like a big boat. It will not stop on a dime. It’s a great cruiser. It still turns heads and looks good. I have lots of receipts/records and a little photo album from its restoration back in 1992. Stored in winters. Never driven in rain.
