Offered for sale here is this stunning 1985 Dodge D350 Dually Car Hauler with the 19' Hodges Ramp Bed. Capable of hauling any car or truck, it has been expertly converted and dutifully maintained. The truck started out as a Black/Gold Crew-Cab Dually with flare-sided box and topper. For added power, the previous owner of the truck ( who is a close friend of mine) exchanged the factory small-block 360 for a 1968 MoPar 440CI Big Block and accompanying 3spd Automatic transmission. More power, and way more torque than the 80's era small-block. The bed was removed in 2004 at the Kentucky facility of Hodges Custom Haulers Facility. They did a complete custom 19' rear bed. Utilizing the Beavertail style rear slant, coupled with the Texas-Style ramps, this means you can load extremely low cars without dragging or high-centering. Four side compartments, each with built in lighting, and a Warn 12,000lb winch! Plenty of hooks, lights, and rollers means this thing is ready to haul anysize load, anytime night or day! Dual fuel tanks were installed with a transfer pump between them. They then did a custom paint job to match the cab, and delivered it back to us ready to go. Total cost in 2004 for the conversion was $9,400! It would be about double that to have it done today. Since then, we've done your typical maintenance, upgrades, and repairs. I'd estimate about 25,000 miles on the road since the Hodges conversion was done. In the meantime, it's gotten new timing chain, new carb, new cooling system, transmission cooler, bearing, brakes, etc... Everything is documented in the accompanying paperwork, which I have going back to 2004! Very new and clean Michelin Truck Tires, they are very quiet on the freeway, and have loads of tread left. The interior was upgraded with a set of bucket seats and center console out of a 1980's Dodge Ramcharger. The seats were just re-upholstered this spring, and are super comfortable! Back seat, door panels, and carpet are original and are in good shape with no major damage, no stains, or smells. Power windows in the front, power locks as well! Full complement of gauges on the floor in the front to monitor engine vitals. A/C was blowing cool last summer, but it's needing a new charge of R12 to be ready for ice-cold cruising. No headliner on this truck, but definitely possible to have one installed down the road... The drivetrain, as previously mentioned, is a 1968-spec 440ci V8 with accompanying 3spd Automatic 727 transmission. Runs great, no issues with startup or driveability. Of course, being a Big Block MoPar, it has some leaks and drips from various components, but nothing serious and we've never had any catastrophic failures. The rear axle is still the factory 1985 Dodge 1 ton dually unit. Always been maintained and no issues in our ownership. The exhaust is custom large diameter that dumps out the right side forward of the rear axle. It's kind of loud, but has a great big-block muscle bark to it! Overall, the truck has been used for hauling over hundreds of cars over thousands of miles of road. It's a strong running truck with a mighty winch that can pull anything onto the flatbed. There are dings, scratches, dents, etc... It's not perfect, and hopefully the photos show that. The interior could use new carpets, and the bed could use a new coat of black paint. I really hate to see the truck go, but I've recently upgraded to a Cummins Diesel truck for towing, and this one needs to find a new owner! Truck is available for viewing anytime during the listing.
