Cadillac Eldorado Models and Eldorado History:For five decades, the Cadillac Eldorado was one a cherished American example exemplifying the two-door luxury car. First used by Cadillac in 1953, the Eldorado nameplate was powered through front-wheel drive since 1967. The 11th generation version of the Cadillac Eldorado was introduced in 1992 sharing front end styling as the Seville and featured door with frameless windows. By 1999, the two-door luxury car hardtop was available in a base trim and Touring model. Both versions of the coupe were powered by high-technology 4.6-liter Northstar V-8 engine connected to a four-speed automatic transmission. The base Cadillac Eldorado provided a maximum engine output of 275 horsepower while the Touring model featured a heightened 300 horsepower. Trim level names were redefined in 2000 with the base becoming the ESC and the Touring known as the ETC. The 2000 Cadillac Eldorado ESC model was equipped with standard features such as automatic rear level control suspension, dual-zone climate control and five-passenger leather upholstery. Updating to the ETC model added items such as StabiliTrak stability control, continuously variable road-sensing suspension and Rainsense windshield wiper technology to the two-door coupe. The Eldorado ETC model also featured an interior trim making use of Zebrano wood trim. Optional equipment offered on the 2000 Eldorado comprised of a 12-disc trunk-located CD changer and a power sunroof.
