Vehicle Detail
I am the 3rd owner of this 72,242 original mile, matching number, 306 silver, 280z, 4-speed with Factory AC. I purchased the car out of Spokane, Wa in mid 2015. The car was always garaged and well taken care of. The second owner had the car inspected by C&H Auto Repair and based on their findings the coolant was flushed, master brake cylinder and fluid replaced, new wheel cylinder and shoes/hardware installed, new battery cables and a battery tender installed for cold month charging. Close to $1,800 in parts and labor performed. All receipts will be in the glove box upon purchase. Original strut inserts are worn and should be replaced. Unfortunately there wasn't a lot of information that came from the original owner as he passed away before the sale, but there are some records. Some of them from the Datsun dealership and some from third party mechanics. The car was purchased and serviced for the first 12,500 miles at Ocala Datsun in Ocala, Florida. New hoses, starter, caliper and fuel injectors bench checked with #5 injector being replaced by Taylor's garage in Oklawaha, FL back in 95. The car has been well taken care of by all its owners. The original owner also had the car resprayed at some point the same 306 silver in which is came from the factory. The paint looks great! It's super shinny and well done. It's not 100% flawless like a brand new car's paint would be, but to find flaws other than a couple spots, you'd have to look pretty close. I will try to show you "those spots" in the picture gallery. Those spots are a few paint bubbles, which haven't broken through the paint, and some rust under the battery tray which was the result of leaking battery acid (this happened on the original owners watch) that ate a line through the firewall and trickled down to the passenger floorboard where it found its way out. It sucks, but isn't structural, noticeable and it can be fixed. The rust does stop shy of the frame rails. You can sort of see this damage in the photo gallery, but it was really hard to get a picture of it. Just know that it is there and is where the firewall and inner wheel well join. The car has a clean Washington state title and has never been in an accident that I or the 2nd owner is aware of or could find signs of. The prior owner did pull into a parking space and bumped a parking curb which bent the center section of the lower valance a bit. The damage is only to the center section and not to the side mounting pieces. The car was undercoated at some point by the first owner, thus helping to preserve the undercarriage but a lot of that has started to come off due to weather and age. No signs of cancer anywhere other then the spots I mentioned above. I've been under her numerous times poking and prodding (as I assumed I'd find typical Z cancer) with noting but the typical surface rust on the suspension components to note. She still has the original front fender liners intact and in great condition! In fact, she is as close to all original as you'd probably want her to be - other then paint, of course. The engine fires up the first time, every time. She pulls hard with no transmission whining and never pops out of gear. She never leaks fluids. She stops great; a little firm on the pedal though. The AC still blows cold. All lights and signals work perfectly. She rides like a Cadillac (due to the worn strut inserts) but doesn't corner as tightly as she should, but it's still a nice ride. You can pick up a set of inserts for a few hundred bucks, but since I was always planning on going the coil-over route I didn't bother replacing them. Recently NGK plugs and wires were installed. You can get in and drive off just like you could with any reliable used car. She has never left me stranded on the side of the road! The interior looks really good, but has a cracked dash and a couple splits on the drivers seat vinyl. I have a plastic dash cap for the car which is included in the purchase. The arm rest has a few small cracks here and there(barley noticeable) and the rear cargo belts are missing, but the rest of the interior is complete and looks great for its age! The tachometer just froze up on me at 4100 rpm and I suspect that it's hitting the plastic due to age and warping. I will be looking into it over the next few days and will try to fix it before the end of the auction. If not you can pick up a used one for $25 - 75 bucks. Not depicted is the original tire iron, wheel chalks and case, which I have and comes with the car. The tires are is great condition and are practically new with tons of tread left. The fronts are 195/75/14 and the rears are 215/70/14. Included in the sale is a covercraft fitted car cover, DVD shop manual and some other extra small parts. This is a really nice car! Especially for being 40 years old. I wasn't disappointed when I first saw it and don't think you will be either. Take a good look at the pictures and let me know if I missed anything! IMPORTANT: If you are planning on paying with paypal you will need to add the 3% paypal fee to the final price. If you'd like to avoid that fee I will take a cashiers check, but the car will not be available for transporter pickup until the payment has been verified by my bank. Upon payment/payment cleared, I will overnight you the signed title and any spare keys, keeping a set for the transporter. You will need to make your own shipping arrangements, but I will try my best to work with you to make the process as smooth as possible. I have tried to describe this vehicle as accurately and honestly as possible but please remember it is a used vehicle. As with any vehicle there may be issues that I have overlooked or am unaware of.
