Vehicle Detail

1993 Ford Mustang Cobra. Number 1494 of 4993 Cobra's built. One of 448 built with black on black exterior/interior. I purchased this Cobra in 2009 from a dealer in Pennsylvania. It had approx. 18k miles when I bought it. I drove it from PA to FL then from FL to CA. I then drove it back and forth from CA to OR before finally landing in WA. For about 2 yrs., the car was a daily driver. I've never had any problems with it and it's a great car. From when I was a kid I always wanted a Cobra but sadly I have to sell it as I have a 1 car garage and just purchased a new truck that needs to be indoors. Below are the upgrades: Stage 2 ceramic clutch 10.5 inch Ford Racing Steel Flywheel E303 Camshaft with new springs, roller lifters, and retainers New Ford Racing Water Pump New SFI 50oz Balancer Billet 9-way timing chain Billet adjustable regulator Maximum Motorsports Strut Tower Brace, panhard bar, cast/camber kit BBK lowering springs Bilstein shocks 3:27 gears and rebuilt rear-end Pro 5.0 shifter and new trans mount Ford Racing aluminum driveshaft Bassani shorty headers and catalytic converters (x4) Ford Motorsport differential cover Alpine stereo BBK air intake Red Top Optima Battery Upgraded radiator to 3 vs. 2 core (copper) - runs cool There is probably more that I'm forgetting and can provide a more detailed list if needed as I've upgraded small things over the years. On a scale of 1-10, I'd say the car is probably a 7.5-8. Most recently I had it in at the Ford dealership to replace the rear main seal. It was leaking about 1 drop a week which annoyed me so I fixed it. The paint is probably the worst part of the car. As you can see by the photos, it shines. However, upon closer inspection you will see water spots that ate into the clear. I've been told I can buff them out but I don't want to mess up the clear. The most I've done is clay and wax it a few times. Still looks nice when it's polished. Wheels also have a little bit of road rash and probably could be powder coated. I was going to get them dipped in black chrome but I'm just tired of spending money on it. Wheels really aren't that bad in comparison to most and you can barely tell unless you're looking closely. I paid $18k for it when I bought it, dropped about $10-12k into it over the years, and am not in a rush to sell it. If I have to, I can store it in a storage unit until I can get what I want for it. In another year or so it will be a classic car. I'm also pretty sure that, with a sunroof, there were only so many made that were black on black. I'm assuming at least 50% of the 448 that were built have either been totaled or cut up for the race track. This car is for sale locally and seller has the ability to end auction early if sold. Feel free to ask questions and thanks for looking. On Jan-06-17 at 08:03:53 PST, seller added the following information: Update: I took some photos of the shock/strut towers. There isn't any rust in these areas. I also checked where the spare tire goes...no rust there either. I tried to take the best photos I could but I think I may have to wait to the next round, if it doesn't sell, to get it on a rack so I can take more detailed photos or possibly put a video on youtube. I'm sure there is some surface rust somewhere but there are no noticeable spots where rust has eaten any of the metal or caused damage. Update 1/16/17: I drove it to a dealership and took a video of the underside of the car. I did see some surface rust. It's the kind of rust you'd see on a car that has been driven 66k miles. The only spot that concerned me was a small section behind the drivers side seat. That said, it's just surface rust. If you take a wire brush to it, sand it, and then paint it should be fine. Other than that, I didn't see any other sections that needed attention. I also took a video of the undercarriage that I can send to you if you want to see it. Lastly, this car is not perfect. If I was going to keep it, I'd probably detail the undercarriage as it's dirty. I'd also powder coat the wheels. The windows rattle when you close the door so the guide that holds the windows, mainly drivers side, probably needs to be worked on. I'd also take off the door panels and replace all the plastic clips while I was fixing the window. There are 2-3 small door dings in the doors from parking lot idiots and one small dent on the hatch. That's been there since I purchased it. Paint in these areas is fine. You can probably fix the door dings but the small dent on the hatch will be a little tougher. I'd also find a good mechanic to tune it a little better. I think it runs a little rich and the idle does blip when it's cold. The rubber grommet is also detached from the emergency brake. I'd probably take out the center console and fix that. I have the grommet but haven't put it in yet. It took me 2yrs to actually find one that was in decent shape as most are deteriorated. I'd also take the Bassani cat's off and put a H-pipe on so it gets more air and breathes better. Lastly, the car has been smoked in. It's been about 3 years since and it was only because I was sitting in traffic coming home from work. I can't smell it and I've asked other's tell me if they could smell smoke and the answer was no. It just smells like a Mustang. If you want a perfect Cobra there are some with zero miles on ebay. I think I saw two recently for $26k. This one is a 7.5-8 so there are probably some things that can be done to make it more presentable. However, when she's shined up on a sunny day it turns heads. It always starts, runs cool, and hasn't left me stranded. It's a great car but I need the garage space. After looking closely at past offerings, and sold Mustangs, I'm thinking this one is in the $15-16k range so I've dropped my price accordingly. I've done the best I can to describe it and would prefer a local buyer who will come see it and give it a test drive. If there are any questions, please feel free to ask. I dropped the reserve and buy it now price so the highest bid will win. I make no other representations nor warranties and car is sold as is. I recommend the buyer complete their own inspection. If you have questions...please ask. Happy bidding.
