1965 MORGAN LIGHTWEIGHT 4/4 RACER This race car was built at the Morgan factory in England by Tivvy Shenton under instruction from Charles Smith and financed by Peter Morgan the president of Morgan Car Comany at that time in 1970-1971. Weighing only 1300 lbs the car was very successful, with special light weight one piece extra wide bodywork, with no doors. Completely redesigned front and rear suspensions. A full race Cosworth BDA and Sierra gear box. It was then sold to John Sheeley of Richmond Virginia. He raced the car in various SCCA & associated auto club events in the 1990's, winning the majority of the events he entered. He then sold the car to Paul Merrigan in 2002 who continued racing the car in SCCA, SCCA Vintage, VARA, HSR & SVRA events until 2011 when it was sold to Mac McGarry. Tivvy Shenton now operates Tivvy's Autocraft in Danville VA. He has confirmed the provenance of this car. This is a significant car. As stated originally this car came with a BDA & Siera gear box, it now has new race FORD 1600cc Crossflow Kent engine with 165 HP and a Lotus Elan close ratio gearbox. THIS CAR IS RACE READY! There is no street registration included with this car, though it was once registered for street use.
