Vehicle Detail
Important: This car does not pass inspection without additional work. Please read the text carefully. I you are car handy you can likely fix it or have it fixed. Or it could be sold for parts. If I can't sell it here I will sell the parts. Below I'm trying to give you a very honest assessment of what is being sold.I bought this car second hand when it had 125,000 miles and it now has 290,000 miles. Body: The car has not had any major accidents. Some years ago: The right front headlight was replaced after hitting a pothole, the rear bumper (the metal behind the cover) was replaced after hitting a pole backing out of a parking spot. The plastic covering the right rearview mirror blinker is broken after hitting a hanging branch. For the rest there are some scratches typical for a car with this amount of miles. No rust visible.Interior: Not many of these cars have the folding down rear seats, which is a real plus for when you want to transport things. The interior is reasonably well preserved for this amount of miles. The central driver console has a couple of handle covers that lost their wood cover. The car came with the dynamic seat option. The seats adjustments and memory still work but the dynamic seat feature does not. Sound system, navigation etc in good working order. This is the version with the upgraded sound system. I will miss that sound. This version has the keyless start, which works fine. The sensor that opens the doors automatically as you walk to the car no longer works. You have to press the key fob to open or lock the doors.Drivetrain: I have always kept the car maintained. Almost all suspension joints, shocks, struts were replaced at some point. The Michelin tires were new this spring and I have a set of Nokian studded winter wheels/tires that have only driven one season. The light "check brakes" has been on for years and is know to be an issue related to the rain sensor.Engine: Last year the turbo was worn out and I had it replaced with a rebuilt one. If the car would not have an engine problem I would not be selling it for sure. The engine, once is starts runs fine and has had no issues. The diesel means there are glow plugs and there was a check engine light for those glow plugs. The glow plugs apparently needed replacing and are mostly stuck. I had added an engine block heater last year. I managed to replace four of the glow plugs, but a fifth has become a major issue, can't get it out. One way forward would be to get the stuck glow plug out by taking the engine head off etc. Another would be to get an engine from another car (as long as the glow plugs on that engine are still easy to remove). Or if I lived in a state where inspection was less strict, guess that would be an option too. Tires: So you get two sets of rims and two sets of good tires. I also had ordered a replacement left headlight and front brake assembly which I would sell at/below cost, $100 for the light extra and $100 for the front brake assemblies. On Dec-05-16 at 19:02:21 PST, seller added the following information: One more thing to mention: The signaling from the fuel filter sensor has some problem. The fuel pump keeps pumping when it should stop as soon as there is enough pressure. The wire may have gotten damage when I was working on trying to remove the glow plugs. The pump pushes the fuel so hard that the filter leaks diesel fuel. So the car cannot be driven to a new location even if the engine were to run.
