This 1971 BMW 2002 was purchased from a enthusiast in Connecticut who owned the car for about six years and performed a number of cosmetic and mechanical alterations. An Ireland Engineering flare kit and molded-in chin spoiler were added, and other modifications included an electric fuel pump, Bilstein shocks, lowering springs, an ANSA exhaust, and more detailed below. The car looks aggressive and i have driven it often during my ownership, clutch feels solid and a strong engine with 140psi compression across all cylinders. It is sold with with a Connecticut transferable registration and a bill of sale, as Connecticut does not issue titles to cars of this age. This BMW has a rough looking matte red paint job and has been modified with a flare kit from Ireland Engineering. Based on their dimensions, the flares appear to be the brand’s 2002 Turbo flares, albiet molded in rather than riveted on. The front air dam has been molded in to the front valence as well. The aftermarket wheels are larger than stock and are fitted with new tires.Windshield and rear window rubber appear to be in good condition. The trim is complete, though the chrome on the rain gutters has separated slightly from the roof. Compared to the slightly rough and ready appearance of the exterior, the interior looks to be nicely trimmed. The adjustable-back sport seats are newer and in good condition, while the dash and door panels are well preserved originals. The center stack has been modified with aftermarket gauges, a small switch panel, and an aftermarket radio. The shift boot is color coordinated with the aftermarket seats.The M10 engine is the original block with matching vin, though it was paired to an automatic transmission and one of the previous owners converted the car to a 4-speed manual. An ANSA exhaust has also been added.The car has been serviced at BKM Car Services in Astoria during the my ownership, and benefits from new spark plugs, electronic ignition components, fuel hoses, coolant hoses, a valve cover gasket, and a fuel pump with relay and new harness . New Bilstein shocks and aftermarket springs were fitted , and have made the car lower and stiffer than stock.Some records of recent work are included with the car, as are a selection of extra parts including drip rail trim, the original starter and water pump, and a set of brake calipers. please note car does not have ac . The car runs and drives great .Driving this car around town is a amazing feeling , meeting new people and having a well educated conversation while striking new friendship with previous 2002 owners , lovers and future owner .Car does not over heat but i have installed a electric fan to run the car smoother . The car shows 65,000 miles but is closer to 70,000 as odometer stop working a couple of years ago . This car was used only perhaps once a week .
