Vehicle Detail
This is a 2006 Cadillac DTS and is the (highest end) Performance Series Edition (not the Standard Luxury I, II or III) eqippped with the Luxury and Performance packages. It is considered the highest level package of the four DTS type vehicles, with options on the car such as higher horsepower (292 versus the 270 on other models), standard power sunroof, black matte grill, massaging front seats, heated and cooled front seats, wider wheels and tires (18 inch wheels, not 17" on other models) and most of all the premium suspension which adjusts to driving conditions and GPS Navigation not offered on other models. The following are options listed from Cadillac for this model, I reviewed all and made and added/deleted options accordingly: 1st and 2nd row curtain head airbags Max cargo capacity: 19 cu.ft. 4 Door MP3 player 4-wheel ABS Brakes Multi-link rear suspension ABS and Driveline Traction Control OnStar Anti-theft alarm system Overall height: 57.6" Audio controls on steering wheel Overall Length: 207.6" Audio system security Overall Width: 74.8" Automatic front air conditioning Passenger Airbag Body-colored bumpers Power remote trunk release Cargo area light Power windows Black Matte grille Privacy glass: Light Clock: Analog Radio Data System Coil front spring Rear air conditioning with separate controls Coil rear spring Rear bench Compass Rear center seatbelt: 3-point belt Cornering Lights Rear door type: Trunk Cruise control Rear Head Room: 38.4" Cruise controls on steering wheel Rear heat ducts with separate controls Cupholders: Front and rear Rear Hip Room: 55.7" Curb weight: 4,009 lbs. Please take into consideration the car has over 200k miles and there will always be flaws on any car with such mileage: 1) The car has an extremely smooth ride, however when I am driving down a street and hit a dip/pothole in the road I can feel it on the right/front side. I haven't had it looked at as I'm sure the car (simply thinking this from the amount of miles on the car) needs a new shock/strut on that front right side of the car. If you do a lot of highway driving, you will not even notice it. I drive quite a bit in the city and notice it maybe once weekly. It just gives you a little jolt, but is otherwise harmless. In my opinion buying new shocks, even though it is a relatively inexpensive repair (if that is what is needed) is not something I considered "urgent or needed". 2) The car has a few scratches and dents which I would consider "minor". I am in the process of having these issues corrected. This damage almost occurred while the previous owner had the car. I suppose I could have had smaller dings fixed, but I was looking for a dependable car which I could drive long distances. The dents are again minor in nature. This again goes back to investing money in making sure the car is in great running condition. I did pay for all of the work repairing all of the glass and having the hood and trunk painted to take care of the key marks (from the previous owner). This damage again resulted in the "total loss" designation on the car and the salvage title. 3) The car has not been in a serious accident, I had the car inspected prior to purchase and this was verified. Unfortunately, I bumped into the back of another car at a very low speed and this resulted in very minor damage to the bumper (see pictures). The car is currently being re[aired and the bumper should look fine upon completion. There are no issues with opening or closing the hood. The damage is strictly cosmetic and does not interfere with operation of the vehicle. 4) The car has an amazing on-board computer which tells you if anything is wrong with the car including everything down to any one tire being too low or too high. The "park assist" is turned off and may ave been damaged when I bumped the car I mentioned previously. The "park assist" is a feature which sounds a tone when you are pulling into a parking space (as an example) and lets you know if you're getting too close to another car. 5) The car only came with one key and unfortunately does not have a remote with it. I have tried to track down the remote witout success. I have a spare remote from another DTS and will try to see if Cadillac can sync the new remote with the car. I have owned another one of these car and the remote would lock, unlock, and open the trunk on the other car. This car also is equipped with remote start allowing you to start the car from outside the vehicle. I unfortunately have been unable to use this feature without the remote. I have not checked with Cadillac to see how much a new remote is. 6) This model of the Cadillac DTS (Performance) was the only one with Navigation, as well as one of the first cars with GPS Navigation and it doesn't look as "sharp or new" as more updated GPS. While the GPS has been updated to include new streets, etc. there are some brand new streets (3 years old or less) which may or may not show up. In the current age of Iphones, etc. GPS on cars is not always used....or maybe it's just me generally using my Iphone for directions. It is a great feature, but I have only used it a couple of times. It is a great stereo too, with plenty of presets and XM radio (XM radio is equipped but not currently subscribed.. Good News.... 1) There was only one owner before me. The previous owner use the car for work and drove all over rural areas of Virginia but registered the car in Washington D.C. Most all of the miles are highway driven miles in Virginia. 2) The car blows ice cold A/C. If you live in a climate like mine (Texas) you know how valuable this is. 3) All maintenance issues have been taken care of (new radiator, thermostat, new serpentine belt, all fluids changed) leaving the car in great running condition. 4) All features and options on the car work perfectly. 5) The previous owner (who was the first and only owner) took meticulously good care of this car - that is obvious and apparent. From what I have been able to find, the car was used for work with a company in Virginia paying for all upkeep including routine oil changes, etc. 6) Interior of car is in excellent condition. Everything works and is extremely clean. It is obvious the car has never been smoked in. 7) Tires are high quality have more than 80% of tread life remaining. You will not be disappointed in the performance of this car. I have never seen a car with over 200k miles run better than this one, or look as nice on the inside. If you can overlook a few dings and small dents, this is a great car for you. Car also being sold locally....sale can be cancelled at any time if sold locally. Please feel free to e-mail any questions. Thank you.
