Purchased this vehicle, disassembled, in the Oregon high desert near Bend, OR. Frame was blasted and Painted. Required minor body work, almost no rust. Underside was blasted, painted and undercoated. The only body filler to speak of is on the tub side panel near fuel filler. That panel was dented a bit and probably should have been fixed with metal. That area currently needs some attention (8 years later). The body was painted with DuPont Imron and is holding up very well (8 years now). I added Toyota truck break booster and power steering. The motor is a fresh Chevy 292 inline 6 which is a long stroke truck motor (torque). The differentials were replaced with good used 3.71:1 ratio to make it a better freeway cruiser. The tranny is a chevy SM465 granny low 4 speed truck transmission adapted to the original Toyota transfer case with Advanced Adapter parts. The tranny is well used and my intention was to rebuild it but I never did. A 2" body lift was required to accommodate the SM465. I like the height and now there's room for larger tires. If someone wants to reverse the body lift, I will include an additional FJ40 4 speed, with transfer case and drive lines still attached. These parts were taken from a running FJ40. Its very quiet and a smooth driver. The SM465 seems to whine a little at high speeds (they might all do that). No rear seats, no spare tire rack. No rear heater. Wipers are there but not plugged in. Front heater works fine. Now that I'm in Michigan, I have little use for this thing and need the space. It was a beast in Oregon, never failed me. Steve 541-390-9988.
