Vehicle Detail

I am selling my 1968 J code Hyland green fastback. I've had the car for 10 years and now is the time to sell, I didn't want to sell. I wanted to someday build this car up to the Steve McQueen neat old hot rod she is and just improve it some. I bought the car out of Georgia so it is not really very rusty at all. you will see pictures of the floors and torque boxes and while they are no longer new, there are no holes and the floors and torque boxes can be left as is. The cars factory options are 302 J code 230 factory HP engine, a great running 302 with plenty of power to burn rubber as they say Factory 4 speed transmission Top loader ford made transmission, with hurst shifter, in perfect operating condition. Fold down rear seat. Exterior décor option (which includes the deluxe hood, trunk trim, pop open gas cap, rocker panel moldings Front head rest seats. The car is really outstanding, but best thing I have to say about the car is it is at best a decent driver that would need light body work and paint job if you wanted a show time cruiser. The paint is 20 years old but still shines great. I have had the car garaged the past 10 or 11 years and all I did was give the car a quick wash and it shines great, the car is very straight also.. I would say the worst of the car is the RR quarter panel has a little too much plastic in it, so it probably needs a patch panel or quarter skin. I would do a patch panel. Currently the car just received an oil change, full tune up, new quality battery and ignition switch and key (since I lost the keys) and now the car runs great. I am actually moving the car to a friends shop today and buying all new wheel cylinders and he will have the brakes working 100% so Id be able to say the car is 100% running and driving. Frame rails are in great condition, the front torque boxes have had what looks to be sheet metal repairs, they are all there still but I imagine anyone doing a restoration to this car would probably end up putting new full length floor pans and torque boxes in the car. Again they are there now and "solid" but they are what 48 years old now. To be honest, I watched two very similar cars (both were green) on ebay just last week, check out 302029353745 and 172291140462. One of the cars went to 20k and ended early (meaning it probably (no doubt) sold for more/that was a 6 cylinder car originally) and the other went to $34k (wow) and didn't meet reserve. NOW there is no way (no offense to that seller) that car is worth $34k or more.. I've been around mustangs now since I was 16 years old, now 54 yo. I have a 67 gt350 and wanted to make this car a driver as the Shelby is cool but somewhat nerve wracking to drive these days (too valuable in my mind). If you look at the interior. You will see that the interior is actually good original. The interior needs a new shift boot (a $10 dollar item on line from Hurst) and the drivers seat had the butt portion of the seat upholstered. If you look at the pics you will see I have a new upholstery kit for that seat (in a photo) behind the car. Car has a nice matched set of BF Goodrich tires mounted on chrome GT styled steel wheels with the NON GT center caps. I believe I have a set of GT caps as well, so the buyer could have one set or the other. Car also has the GT rear valence. My thoughts were the GT fog lights and then a C stripe and the GT fender badges (like the $34k car has) and you've got yourself a GT clone. That is certainly what I would do with the car. Any questions, contact me and I' be happy to talk with you. On Aug-09-16 at 08:46:34 PDT, seller added the following information: hello, well I have some very positive news for the potential buyer of this car. My car is now at Carlos (my friend in Boonton, NJ). He wants to replace (preventatively) the starter and selonoid and I have agreed and he wants to rebuild or at least clean out the holley 4v carb. Then he will go onto make the brakes work 100%. So by the weekend (before the car sells) the car will be 100% running and driving.. That said I am now really feeling very happy and know now that ANY BUYER will be very happy with the car, even the most discerning of buyers. My only thoughts are that this is going to cost me a few hundred bucks more than I have in it and I cannot increase my reserve, so oh well. Thanks Tony (551) 204-0707 On Aug-10-16 at 05:33:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I am not certain of how many people care but I added the Marti report I purchased as a rush yesterday. I have attached it to my photos section. If you look closely, I would point out that there is no question the car is an original highland green car (that was a big question). But also the car had upgraded tires (70s) , I am not sure that is any big deal but what is truly outrageous in my opinion is that the car had white painted stripe option. That means that the hood got the two painted on stripes that run back from the deluxe hood blinker area to the cowl. Sorry I didn't get the deluxe report now because in my experience this makes this car very rare. again not a big deal for some but I know some people like 1 of cars. NOw I am not saying this is a 1 of now but I bet it is one of maybe 50 or so?? Again I know when cars did get the painted hood stripe, 99% of the time it was black.
