Up for sale is a 1980 Chevrolet El Camino. It is an unusual and rare factory color combination of red and white with the premium trim package. The car has a V8 and automatic trans, power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. I purchased this car with the intention of building a pro street ride. My wife went nuts when I brought another car home. I decided a happy wife makes for a happy life, so here we are... The Bad: It is rusted in right front fender, both quarters and the rear frame rails. It definitely needs paint (there are spots on the fender and hood that appear to be hand painted by an amateur - the photos show most of the spots.) And like any older used car, there's some superficial rust, nicks and scrapes The rear bumper is not pretty and the seat needs some stitching. The Good: It is rare to find V8 with factory air. It starts all the time and the motor seems to run good (may need valve seals). I drove it 17 miles home and it shifted smoothly without any slips. Brakes work well too. The front was tight without any shakes or shimies. Out back, the bed is actually in remarkably nice shape. see pics. The interior is in pretty good overall condition. Parts to restore this car are very available. especially since this car shares most parts with all 1978-87 Malibus, and Wagons from 1978 to 1986. All glass is good, and it has 4 nice tires on mag wheels. The car shows 86,811 miles but the title shows 158700. Most states disregard the mileage on older cars but I thought it's important to mention it. It will be sold "True Mileage Unknown." I will be happy to answer any questions. I am putting this car up cheap with no reserve in hopes that someone will see what potential I see in it. Perhaps someone with a more understanding spouse, as well. :) I have attempted to describe this car as I would want it described to me. It's definitely not perfect, but it is a great start. I would rather overdescribe it and scare a few folks off then have someone displeased with the car.
