Vehicle Detail
1967 MERCEDES 200 DIESEL, Arizona car with a dry and almost totally rust free body. The only rust is in the left rocker panel (for some unknown reason).Great floors, under carriage, doors, fenders, trunk floor and deck lid etc. Light green car, almost white with a black interior. The history I know is that the car belonged to an older gentleman here in Phoenix, Arizona and when he decided to sell it a local broker bought it and sold it to us.I'm relatively sure it is a local Arizona car, judging by the dry and rust free sheetmetal and the dry interior. The interior is still usable but it is dry and cracked. The seats are comfortable and a set of seat covers would do wonders for the look of the interior! The car runs great, I don't think I have ever driven an old Mercedes diesel with so much power. It feels like driving a gas powered Mercedes and the 4 speed automatic transmission shifts great. The front end is tight, brakes are perfect and the car is a pleasure to drive. I don't know if the engine has been rebuilt but, it starts within a second or so and it is strong and very healthy either way, it does not drive like your tired average 49 year old Mercedes Diesel! The Mercedes has A/C, tinted glass, power brakes and the front brakes are disc brakes, AM/FM Blaupunkt radio. The A/C compressor kicks in when the A/C is turned on but the cooling fan in the A/C unit does not turn on so I'm not sure if the A/C will blow cold or not. There's several cracks in the windshield. We sell new glass for old cars at our restoration shop in Phoenix and we can supply a new tinted windshield at a great price. The tail light lenses are a little faded from the hot Arizona sun and there's a hole in the right tail light lens. The Mercedes is ready to go as it sits now, it even has a great battery, excellent exhaust system and great tires!I know of no reason that it could not be driven anywhere but I have to add that because it is a 49 year old car I give no guarantees that you can fly in and drive across the US without any problems. Please ask questions before bidding and also please don't wait until the last hours to ask questions, I might not be able to answer before the auction is over. A $1000 deposit id due within 24 hours of the end of the auction and the balance is due within 7 days. Inspection is encouraged and welcome but please make sure it is done before the end of the auction! We have exported collectible cars all over the world for the last 30 years so export is no problem. We can also often assist with arranging transport within the US. You never know what will happen when you put a car on eBay, sometimes there's tons of interest and sometimes nothing at all. I suspect that there will be very much interest in this charming Mercedes diesel and I would not be surprised if offers will come in before the end of the auction. I would consider doing a buy it now so if you really want the car, contact me early with offers and we'll see how it works out! And lastly, pleeeeeese do not bid unless you are willing and able to pay should you be the winning bidder! On Jul-13-16 at 14:36:22 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok people.I have had a lot of questions about the car (mostly how much it will take to buy it now) but I need to add to my description a little. As it turns out the left rocker panel is not as bad as I thought. The factory undercoating is peeling in places and I thought there was severe rust underneath but after I scraped off some of the dry undercoating it turns out the rust underneath can be sanded or blasted and the rocker can be used again. That's the good news, the bad mews is I found a little rust in the left front floor pan. The complete under carriage is perfect from front to rear and that goes for the bottom of the quarters, wheel wells, the floor, exhaust system etc except for one spot in the driver front floor. It is definitely from the car being stored where water could enter that spot (and that is why the left rocker looks like it does also). I'm not sure if I can add my email address but I'll try: bo@arizonaclassic.com I have pictures and if you want pictures you can send an email.
