On offer is one 1968 R60US motorcycle. Very low miles for a bike of this year - under 15,000. This motorcycle is in very good running condition, following a full mechanical service last summer. Prior to that, the bike had been in storage since 1982. The bike was thoroughly checked out after being taken out of storage, and all mechanicals got a clean bill of health. All fluids were drained, and inspected for rust and condensation, and none were found -- all fluids were clean and water free, with no sign of grit or rust. The gas tank was inspected and found to be in perfect condition inside, with no sediment or rust, and with the original lining perfectly intact. The fuel tap was rebuilt with a new cork as the old one had dried out and leaked, and now operates perfectly. The cylinders were removed and the pistons, rings, and cranks were inspected and found to be in excellent condition with only one ring sticking slightly (which was corrected). The engine has excellent compression, and starts right up and runs as it should. It is a joy to drive, but I don't use it enough and need to shed a few toys. Getting back to the details -- the carbs have been rebuilt, but had only a tiny amount of sediment when taken out of storage. The air cleaner element is new. The air cleaner cover and intake tubes had flaky chrome and superficial rust, so they were blasted and painted silver just to stabilize them. New rubber tube connections were installed. A new spark plug coil was installed, along with new points and condensor. A new old stock Vance & Hines complete exhaust system was fitted last summer and is in beautiful condition. The original dual seat has been preserved and re-covered. Also has new tires (one year old), front and rear, and miscellaneous new rubber, like fork gaiters, shifter rubber, footpegs, etc. The original (not reproduction) hella bar end turn signals work perfectly, as does do all other electrics. The brakes have been cleaned and serviced. This is a nice, roadworthy bike, with its original paint intact -- yes it is not perfect cosmetically -- the chrome is kinda dull and there is some rust. Also some rust on the fenders and frame -- but all superficial, and I would rather have an original paint bike, even with the "patina of age." I buffed out the tank a little and as you can see, it shines up nicely, but not perfect. The tank roundels are new reproductions, as the originals were missing when I got it. I have not tried to buff out the fenders, or the frame, and never even got to fully cleaning the wheels or frame. So the condition will improve when the cleaning is complete. Note that the original horn has been replaced with a Maserati air horn. It works, but sometimes needs a tap to get it to sound -- maybe a shot of lube would cure this. Note the non-original accessory taillights mounted to the right and left of the original light unit. Both work. Too bad they are so ugly -- but they do increase visibility. The bike comes with its original rear rack -- not pictured - it has some superficial rust and chrome loss, but is usable and can be rechromed. That's all I can think of at the moment -- feel free to ask questions. I have this bike registered currently in New York. New York does not issue titles for bikes this old -- they issue transferrable registrations. So this bike will be sold on the transferrable reggie, and a bill of sale -- which should be acceptable anywhere you care to register it.
