Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a Vintage 1979 Honda CX500 Motorcycle! I have owned this 1979 CX500 for three years, and have been meticulous about its care. All service records from the last 3 years are available. I have loved riding this bike, but am now traveling a lot, and do not have time to use it as much as I would like. With a smooth ride, light weight, and quick acceleration, this bike has been the best I have owned! Description: New Battery Summer 2015, Two New Exhaust Pipes Autumn 2014, New Tires Autumn 2015, Valve Adjustment Autumn 2015, Run Consistently with Lucas Oil Injector Cleaner/Lubricant, Consistent Use of High Octane Fuel, Clean Title, Great Running Bike! Bike has been services 3 times in the last 3 years by Royal Motor Performance in Columbus, OH. This bike only has 16,000 miles on it. In excellent physical condition considering its age! Excellent, versatile bike for any rider! Repairs: Clutch Cable worn and needs replaced (this part can be purchased for $13 and installed in less than an hour), Worn Seat (see photos), 2 Months ago developed tendency to go to high range on heat gauge. This is most likely due to need for radiator flush or small coolant leak but actual cause has not been assessed, speedometer stopped working at the beginning of the 2015 riding season, but has no affect on usability of bike. Upon inspection by my mechanic (Royal Motor Performance, Columbus) it was indicated that Odometer Cable was not the issue - the causal issue has not yet been determined. DISCLAIMER: While motorcycles of this age are highly desirable to collectors and dabblers alike, when purchasing a vintage bike one should expect to make a trade off of novelty for reliability relative to newer bikes. This being said, this bike is being sold as it is. As such, current owner can in no way take responsibility for unknown or unrealized issues. The asking price of this motorcycle is lower than average to accommodate for the relative risk of purchasing a vintage motorcycle. This motorcycle has been used with consistent reliability for the last 3 seasons and is expected to be able to perform reliably in the future. As this bike has been stored under a heavy tarp outside this winter and not yet started this season, it will either need to be jumped in order to drive away, or will need to be trailered.
