Vehicle Detail
It is with regret that I sell my 1979 Triumph Bonneville T140E as I have always loved these vintage motorcycles. But it's time to let this one go to another Triumph enthusiast. This Triumph has matching frame, engine and title numbers. The title is clean and in my name with current registration. This Triumph is in superb, original, unrestored condition with only 3300 miles on the odometer that I believe to be correct based on the condition of this motorcycle. The Triumph is a beautiful example of an unmolested, well maintained and properly stored vintage motorcycle. It has the original silencers with undisturbed baffles, original air boxes and ducts. There is very little patina on this Triumph. Although you can find some if you look close enough. Look at the pictures closely as they tell the story. The electrical components are factory original and are in good working order. The 1979 Bonneville was the first year for the electronic ignition and locking seat. This Triumph was in exceptionally good condition when I got it and I have done the following things to it. The work was done by myself but rest assured I am an accomplished licensed aircraft engine and air frame mechanic and inspector. I have worked in that capacity for more than 40 years, rebuilding aircraft as well as motorcycle and automobile engines. *Replaced rear brake hoses (front brake hoses replaced by previous owner) *Electrical grommets, shock bushings, crank shaft and exhaust cam seals *New Dunlop K81 front tire. The rear tire is a Dunlop K 81 with very little wear and no weather- checking * Replaced rubber oil lines *New lower fuel lines (feed lines were replaced by previous owner and are in fine condition) *Replaced fork seals *A fresh set of standard Hastings piston rings. Measured pistons and cylinder bores and found dimensions are within standard specs which helps in validating original miles on the odometer. The reason for ring job was the need to replace tappet block O rings. The exhaust side was leaking. 300 miles on rings, head has been re-torqued. Also replaced rocker shaft O rings. No leaks *1 year old battery with about 300 miles. The seat upholstery is original and excellent. The underside of seat has some dents and scratches. The tank is next to flawless, no dents, no scratches, excellent paint. I also installed a new Reynold final drive chain for good measure. She runs strong and shifts fantastic. This Triumph would make and excellent addition to a serious Triumph collector or just to enjoy and take to shows. Included is a 1979 Bonneville 750 Owners handbook and a 1979 Bonneville sales brochure. To view a video go to YOUTUBE and search for "1979 750 Triumph Bonneville cold start and run" 1:22 min.
