Vehicle Detail
2001 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) Sport with 53,095 original miles, automatic transmission with part time 4 wheel drive, cruise control, power windows, power door locks (with keyless fob), air conditioning, AM/FM cassette stereo, factory off-road option, i.e., skid plates for the motor sump, transfer case and fuel tank (see the photos), full size spare tire and original owner's manual. This is an excellent Cherokee XJ. It is my fifth since 1988; I've had two new ones and three low mileage used ones. I gave my 2001 Classic to my son a few years ago and missed it ever since so I started looking for another. I live in Spokane, WA so when a car became available in Tacoma, WA (280 miles away) I was jazzed. This car was originally owned by the City of Tacoma, Department of Environmental Services. As such it was equipped with roof-mounted warning beacons (amber) and a communication system that I believe included CB radio and some kind of computer link. All of that equipment was removed prior to my purchasing it but there are artifacts remaining: antenna and mounting holes on the roof (that have been sealed) and a few screw holes in the shifter console. I purchased the car from the city's fleet dealer in November 2014. The Seattle/Tacoma area does not use salt on the roads in winter so unlike eastern cars this one is rust free (except for the usual surface areas on the undercarriage). The car was spec'ed with skid plates for the engine, transfer case and fuel tank. Everything is in super condition and had regular fleet service while the city owned it.. I purchased the car with 48K miles on it and have added only 5K in a year and a half. It has been garaged ever since I got it. Here's the list of the few things it needed and that have been done: *New tires (Les Schwab Tires) *New windshield wipers *New gas struts for the rear door *Tune-up (basically, new spark plugs) *New headlamps *New rear window washer switch (OEM) *New OEM chrome wheel skins *New battery (February 2016) *Oil/Filter change (second one during my ownership, February 2016) OK, so if it's so great why am I selling it? I lost my extra-vehicle storage when my mother-in-law died last year. I'm currently waiting on delivery of another car from Europe (I'm into ancient Series Land Rovers) and I don't have enough storage space. The real estate market here in Spokane is static 'cause everybody is hoping the market will get better and they're not listing. I can't find a building to house my cars so I have to sell some. This is a great uncut, untampered car. It runs like it's barely broken in, the air conditioning is cold, the 4x4 works as it should. What's wrong with it? Nothing, although as stated above, removal of the original owner's equipment has left a few (sealed) holes. Additionally, where you see my business name in the photos (ET Transit LLC) on the two front doors, under my signs the paint is etched with the original owners sticker that said "Environmental Services." I received an estimate from Maaco of $300 to repaint the doors when I first got the car. I decided to wait until the overall paint was really in need and opted for the sign vinyl you see in the pix. It'll just peel off (easier if you preheat with a hair dryer). I'm not one of those "spray everything with Armor-All" guys. I only use Armor-All on the tires, and occasionally on the window moldings - the engine compartment shows the way I keep my cars. If you're looking at this listing then you know about these cars. My Buy It Now price is absolutely reasonable, but I will consider offers that are close. Please don't waste your and my time with low ball offers - my price is less than what I have in the car. I am a long haul trucker so I'm rarely home. Please call me for additional information (Norm @ 360-490-0247). If I don't answer it's because I'm out of cell range; just leave a message and tell me the best time to call you back - I always return my calls. TERMS: An immediate $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit (via PayPal) is due upon winning the sale. Full price is to be paid within seven (7) days of the auction close via wire transfer of funds, or cashier's check (cash in person). You are more than welcome to examine the vehicle, however, due to my erratic trucking schedule, you may need to make a long-range appointment (I'm usually home on Fridays). No warranty is expressed or implied in this sale. The vehicle is sold "As Is." Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer (I do have a shipping broker in Portland, OR to recommend). I reserve the right to end the listing early for a local sale. Thank you for your consideration of my Jeep XJ. Norm Tennefoss360-490-0247
