Vehicle Detail
I bought this car locally in about 2002 as a project car but never really got around to working in it. It has spent most of that time sitting in a field. I rebuilt the engine in 2005 with a rotor/gasket kit and a new clutch and it now has maybe 10k miles on it. Last summer I used it for a commuter and installed a new battery, headlight switch, fuel pump/filter, muffler, charged the AC, welded up holes in the exhaust and gave it a tune up. Right now, the car starts and runs but the front struts have worn out and cause the car to noticeably vibrate when driving. The engine likes to idle high at about 1200rpm, due to typical gsl-se idle adjustment issues which can be tuned out for a short term to the normal 850rpm. The car appears to have been spray painted at some point on the top half by a previous owner, and is showing through to the original paint. There are some dents, dings and scratches on the body with some surface rust. The sunroof also shows some spots of surface rust. A few parts on the car were just made by me out of steel, like the radio mount/tray below, the passenger door handle, and the switches for the rear window motor and wiper. The interior is faded from sitting, trim pieces are worn from use, some of the plastic parts have cracked and the paint is wearing thin. The driver side seat has a tear in the upper and lower part that was repaired by some previous owner, and the upholstery on both seats is worn and faded. I have tried to show most of these flaws in the pictures. The power windows work but are designed to be adjusted, which means that they like to slide out of alignment at the adjusting bolt behind the door panel. I have tried to keep this car as functional as possible as a stock car. The car has a 5 speed transmission, manual steering, the AC works and gets cold, and the car has a limited slip differential. It has an aftermarket Kenwood kdc-mp922 radio/speakers but no amp. This car is still very fun to drive, but I still see this old RX7 as being a good project car or it could even be used as a parts car. I will be selling this RX7 as is with no warranties or refunds.
