1994 BMW 740iL Watch the car running and driving on YouTube: Click here to watch the video COMES WITH 4 NICE NEWER YOKOHAMA W-DRIVE SNOW TIRES ON THE 18" RIMS and 3 DECENT MICHELIN RADIAL XSE SUMMER TIRES! Overview Up for sale is this beautiful 1994 BMW 740iL with 165,xxx miles. I've been using this car as my daily driver, and I've loved it every mile. I'm selling the car to get something a bit more economical and newer. This car has a 282 horse power 4.0 liter v8 M60 engine, so expect around 18-22 MPG. Drivetrain The car runs and drives great. The 5 speed automatic ZF transmission shifts well, with very occasional hard shifts, but certainly no slips or serious mechanical issues. The 282 horse power 4.0L v8 M60 engine runs smoothly. No misfires or check engine lights. The car has only been given premium fuel. The car is RWD. Interior The interior is in quite good condition. The only things to note about the interior is that it could probably need some new floor mats (the floor its self is in great condition), there are one or two cracks in the wood trim pieces (shifter handle and dash piece), and the steering wheel has faded around the edges. The previous owner of this car was very considerate, keeping the seats nice with a leather balm and cleaning the vehicle routinely. All sunshades work, including the motorized rear sun shade. The head liner is also in perfect shape, no sags or tears. All power seats, mirrors, etc work perfectly. Sun roof has two modes of operation that both work perfectly, with no leaks or deterioration of the weather stripping. No smells or odor of any kind, and the car was never smoked in (no ashes, burns, smoke smells of any kind at all). The trunk is very clean, with a jack, tire iron, and full sized spare with the factory wheel. All speakers work great, and sound pretty good for a car that's 20+ years old! The expected wear (and a little rust) There are some imperfections to note on the outside of the vehicle. There are some expected scratches and cracks in the paint. Moderate but tolerable rust on the bottom of some of the doors, left rear side of the vehicle, and exhaust. The passenger side windshield wiper does not work. If you were wondering, I replaced the rear badge with a Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Germany) badge, and I obscured a bumper sticker I have on it (I will remove it for you). Fixed up! A list of all recent repairs Recent repairs and maintenance have been made within the last 10,000 miles I have had it, which has been about 9 months in total. All parts are completely new (except the tire). Regular oil changes Both oxygen sensors replaced at 153,000 miles New fuel door hinge New thermostat housing New radiator, fan clutch, and shroud (all brand new, a $600 VALUE) New fuel tank strap ($100) New right side outer tie rod end New headlight bulbs Nice newer Yokohama W-Drive winter tires ($500 TIRES) This is a lot of value put into the car already! Notable issues There aren't any major mechanical issues with this car. I have driven it very gently, and notice no problems on long trips. I haven't gotten around to these problems, but could very easily be fixed. The traction control light stays on (an ABS sensor on one of the wheels likely needs to be replaced, about $40) The SRS light flashes (this will need scanned to know why the air bag system has given a code, likely only needs reset with a scan tool or by a service center) Why to buy NOW! This is a stunningly gorgeous car, plain and simple. It's fun, has some decent power (limited speed of 155mph, 282 horse power), rides smooth, built with dependable German engineering, classic BMW styling, and has that 80-90s touch of magic. These cars aren't easy to find in this shape, as they have almost all been subject to the nikasil problem. This car easily lives to 250,000+ miles, especially considering the shape of the engine.
