Vehicle Detail
1970 Torino Cobra, J code 429CJ, automatic, Shaker, buckets, console, tach(works well), rear window defogger(works) etc. This car is highly optioned from the factory and came in what is probably the best color available on these cars, Calypso Coral. This car does not have the original drive train any longer and now has a 429 Thunderjet with a mild Crane cam, it seems to run well. The engine does have the correct CJ valve covers, intake and exhaust manifolds so it looks very correct under the hood. The radiator and shroud appear to be correct although there is a crack in the shroud. The transmission is not the original but is a nice working C6. The rear end came with 3.50 gears from the factory but now has a 28 spline 4.11(guessing from driving impression) trak-lok. The speedometer is now a ways off because of the gear change. This car has sat and has some rust issues in the cowl, floor pans(pass side mostly), trunk area in the very back portion and the lip where the weatherstrip goes. Also there is some rust in the rear qtr panels in the very bottom behind the tires. The deck lid has rust also. The frame rails, torque boxes, rockers etc are nice, this is not a car that has been exposed to salt, just rusted where the water settled when it sat. This car has been driven around a little bit but is not yet a daily driver, it was my intention to make it my no guilt winter driver and restore it later. As I was getting close to this I found another Cobra that is a completely numbers matching 4 speed, a/c car so this one must go. Before considering this a driver I would replace the gas tank, heater core and do some exhaust work to make sure it is reliable.
