Vehicle Detail
These 1/2 ton short-bed trucks are all the rage now - there were never as many of them, they were gentlemen's trucks. This was a California truck, no rust, and it underwent a nice restoration about 7 or 8 years ago including an engine rebuild. It has been garage kept the whole time. Attention to detail was used here to maintain original appearance and configuration. This truck was built in San Jose, California, in September, 1964. It has a 352 CID 2v (which is listed to generate 208 HP at 4400 RPM). It only has about 15,000 miles on the new motor. We use this truck as a weekend truck for errands and parades and such. It has never been driven on long road trips or used for anything other than short in-town trips. It has a four speed transmission on the floor, which we were told was how it originally came. The truck is not flawless, but the photos do a pretty good job of indicating exterior and interior condition. Radio doesn't work great. Antenna doesn't retract (not sure if it is supposed to?). Does not have an emergency brake cable (it broke off last weekend, just my luck when I want to sell it). There is no rust, but on the drip rail there are a couple bubbles under the paint on both passenger and driver side. I included photos so you could see that. The underside and frame is rust free (again, this is a lifetime California car, stored in garages and seldom used for the last 30 years of its life). The side trim pieces are showing their age and they have peeling chrome on them. The rest of the chrome looks terrific for its age, particularly the grill and light trim. I'm erring on the side of providing a full description, but as you can see from the photos, the truck looks great. We get stopped everywhere we go on the street with this thing. These trucks are really going up in value for their timeless good looks and classic styling. Lots of folks are looking to invest in an original short bed example in this condition. It starts right up and can be driven all day long. We just replaced all the filters and had a full tune-up, balance, tire rotation and oil change not two months ago. License and registration in California is fully up to date. We will require a $1,000 deposit within 24 hours of auction end as earnest money, with the rest to follow via wire transfer within 48 hours of auction closing. We will also require the buyer to sign a customary Bill of Sale agreement that we will prepare and send to you. The truck can only be picked up in person from Beverly Hills, California by either the buyer or the buyer's designated shipping contact. We won't be transporting the truck to any prospective buyers. Feel free to email me to set a time to come and inspect the truck if you'd like to before you bid on it. Happy to consider reasonable offers, but no lowballers please. We know what the truck is worth, we've taken great care of it, and it will sell to the right buyer.
