It was sold new in California, then moved to Texas. It came to British Columbia in 2002 and has covered just 9,000 miles since then. The odometer shows 189,145 miles. The previous owner spent, I am told, $15,000 on reconditioning and mechanical work. All of the wood has been re-done, the car starts instantly and drives extremely well. New battery as of a few months ago. The hardtop is in storage and appears to be original condition, original paint and kept very clean (probably rarely installed on the car). The only improvement that remains would be to correct the poor paintwork on the front fenders and hood. We aren’t sure when the work was done, but I’ve included photos. We had the car profossionally detailed and polished. The marks are under the clearcoat. It probably wouldn’t cost much to make this car a real head turner. It comes with a key, reproduction manual, spare tire, and an complete set of extra floor mats (brand new). I’ve included both CarProof and CarFax reports (links above). The CarFax is clean, the CarProof shows a repair in 2007, which I assume is the paintwork to the front. The windshield was replaced in 2008. The chrome Mercedes-Benz wheels on the car were added by the previous owner. The spare is one of the original wheels. We do not have the other four original wheels. If you are looking for a clean, rust free, fun to drive, head turning “young classic”. The 380SL is the more fuel efficient version of the SL range and is quite an attractive car. Now that the vehicle is over 25 years old, many people replace the front and rear bumpers with the slimmer and more attractive European versions. This car is really a bargain compared to the later 560SL which have skyrocketed in price in the past few years. It is a Mercedes you can own and drive with relatively low maintenance and probably sell in a few years for what you paid for it, if not a few dollars more. Thank you for your bidding.
