Vehicle Detail
1965 Mustang (one owner until I bought it in 2015). It was produced around the time the cut over from "early" to "late" production was occurring, so it has some elements of early and late production cars. It is an alternator car as opposed to generator. It has the C4 auto trans with the green dot shifter. 170ci engine (U code) is original to the car, though it's a T code car (200ci I6) on the VIN. One of the main reasons I bought this car is because of all original sheet metal...the trunk, rockers, fenders, etc. were all solid and original. The front floors were redone at some point. The only metal work I had done was the rear quarter skins. InteriorFront seats redone with new foam and seat backs. Dash pad and gauge cluster surround, door panels, sun visors, and seat belts are new. The radio is original and says "Deluxe" on it. There's an aftermarket FM converter under the dash that I left in place. Door sills are new along with extra chrome inserts (which are easily removed) and kick panels, as well as glove box liner. The headliner, rear tray, and rear seats I kept original because I like to keep cars as original as possible. The steering wheel and shifter are original as well. Original 1965 "Pony" rubber floor mats! (some wear on the driver's mat). Original keys, original (not reproduction) owner's manual. The trunk is clean with new trunk mat in. The spare tire is there as well and it is new, too. Original jack in the trunk. ExteriorRear of the car: I replaced the rear bumper and rear bumper guards along with new gaskets for the reverse lights. The rear gas cap is original and has a bit of hazing but nothing terrible. Original rear brake lights and reverse lights. The trunk has a new trunk mat and is very clean (It still has the jacking instructions on the trunk lid). Front of the car: New headlights. Original grille, original "Pony" in excellent condition. The hood has one "high spot" about the size of the head of a pencil eraser. The mast of the antenna is gone, but I have a full replacement antenna. Original driver's side mirror. The "Mustang" front fender scripts: one original, one aftermarket. The paint was done in December 2015 turned out quite well. It's not Barrett Jackson quality, and it needs to be wet sanded, but it looks good overall. All of the glass is original. It has the 14" wheels and hub caps, I reconditioned the hub caps but a couple of them do have a dent or two here and there so they aren't perfect but look nice. Rubber around windows in great shape, there's no annoying whistling of air seeping in when you are driving the car. Doors close nice and solid as they should and don't sag. Driver's side window lift mechanism was weak when I bought the car so I replaced it. The hood is not original to the car. I was told by the owner that something fell on the hood back in the 60's and they replaced it with a hood from another Mustang. There is a spot on the driver's side lower front fender where it meets the door that is about 1" x 2" of bubbling. This will be repaired this coming weekend but just wanted to point that out. MechanicalUnder the hood is the 170ci as I said with the 1 barrel carb. Manual steering, manual drum brakes. Brakes were just gone through. The car passed NJ inspection last fall. The exhaust manifold is new. I put a chrome dress up kit on the engine (chrome air clearer & breather, chrome valve cover & valve cover bolts. The engine bay is clean and presentable. Tires all all new with under 200 miles on them. The odometer reads 125k miles, I believe that to be correct. All lights, turning indicators, brake lights, etc. work. The radio turns on, I don't know about it getting signal because of the antenna mast out. I took out the speaker (in dash in the front) because it is 50 years old and sounds terrible. New battery as of January 2016. There are no leaks that I have seen anywhere. OverallThis Mustang was a 1 owner car on a farm in southern Pennsylvania from new until last August when I bought it. It's a car you can get in, turn the key and go. It's reliable and easy to drive. It's no fire-breathing, heavily modded horsepower machine by any means, but more of a pleasant weekend cruiser that also gets excellent gas mileage. The V6 engines are almost indestructible yet extremely easy to maintain and work on. Receipts for all of the parts purchased. International bidders are welcome (you guys in Australia and Scandinavia I've shipped to many times and can help arrange shipping). Any questions please ask me.
