Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a true piece of Americana and an icon of the war-era Chevy workhorse pick up trucks produced between the late 30s and early 40s. Offered is a 1940 model K30 Master 3/4 ton pickup in near original condition - 54,000 miles on the speedo, with single owner history (whoever registers this truck will be the first person to be represented in the truck’s lineage outside of the family. I have not registered it and am listed only on a bill of sale). Additionally this is an extremely rare long-bed with a canopy top with canvas side and rear enclosures (dry-rotted and pictured in back of bed - tailgate metal door is solid). Long-beds are scarce to say the least. It has the original 216 ci in it, along to be what appears to be the original transmission - suspension is all stock, windshield cranks open easily, windows up and down perfectly, and the cowl opens freely. Retains all 6 volt components.Truck starts right up and pours like a kitten. This truck came straight from Mr Joseph’s barn, where it had been in dry storage since the early 80s - and went directly to the estate auction in 2012/13 where I purchased it.Mr Joseph bought the truck in 1940 from a dealer in Tarrytown, according to a helper at the auction who knew the truck, it was custom ordered with a Hercules longbed (Hercules was in Tarrytown in 1940) and with a canopy top. The truck was a fixture in the northern middle-Mass and the lower New Hampshire area. I have had people come up to me and tell me stories about buying fruit and vegetables from it on the roadside sixty years ago.I do not represent myself as an expert in any way shape or form, but, in my opinion this truck is just about as original as any 1940 vehicle you will find on the road. The only things that have been changed out are; generator was rebuilt but the exterior casing was left with original patina…brakes were a mess and have been redone from the new master cylinder all the way to the shoes…wiring was falling off the truck and was replaced with a custom made braided fabric wire loom. (we did have a short under the dash during instillation and had to replace a small portion of wire - about 8 inches)…Period correct horn, porcelain tipped coil, gas filter, gas lines and pump,Period correct Blinkers and turn signal actuator were added to the truck, the tail lights are replacements that Mr Joseph had on the truckThe canopy top was restored by Mr Joseph, I assume in the 80s before it was put away. The truck is in amazing paint - the logo painted doors are to die for. Cab corners, rockers, floor boards, frame - undercarriage - all rock solid !Negatives - There is rust on the front of the bed on both sides - directly behind the cab - you have to go looking for it and most people never notice. There have been welded repairs done to the floor of the bed and the running boards, the small piece between the running boards and the bed has been covered over with metal (by Mr Joseph) The last time it was driven a grinding noise developed - mechanic says it is propeller shaft bushings - NOT FIXED -Someone slammed the door when I had it for sale by the road and cracked the driver window.I opted not to hook up the heater or hoses (bad wires on the blower and I like the cleaner look under the hood without the heater hoses) Wiper motor is electric replacement.seat was recovered by Mr Joseph. You are not going to drive on the highway - she cruises nice in the high 40 mph range and into the 50s - speedo is a little unsure. I don’t like to run her near top end for very long - so it is backroads for me. Truck is sold as is - where is - I implore bidders to come inspect the vehicle - or have an agent inspect it for you - located 1/2 mile off Rt 84, Exit 10 in Newtown Connecticut. NO RETURNS - $1000 deposit within 24 hours - balance due within 7 days in form of certified bank check. Yes, there are lots of restored trucks out there to choose from - if that is your thing - have at it. This is a one in a thousand chance to obtain a great unmolested truck.I am trying to post a youtube video shot today - there are other ones already there from my build Hate to sell this, lost my storage area - I am moving and have to downsize —— Good Luck. On Feb-03-16 at 17:40:53 PST, seller added the following information: Just dug the title out of the safe - been there since I bought the truck.. It was supposed to be signed and not filled out - they filled it out to me - however it has not been registered by me. I was not aware of this - in hindsight I should have checked. My mistake and obviously a serious one. I considered taking it down off of eBay, but since it has not me the reserve I decided to amend the listing and let it play out. Title is signed by the executor of Catherine Joseph Drudi's estate - Dino Joseph Drudi, and the copy of a bill of sale is notarized (COPY) from Mr Drudi. The title was issued in 1985, presumably after Mr Josephs death. So sorry for this error. If there are any further problems or complaints - I will end the listing. again - my apologiesdavid
