Vehicle Detail

I bought this car this summer with 103k on the clock and used it as a daily driver. Recently bought a new car so I no longer have a use for it, otherwise I would keep it as it is a great vehicle. I have the original window sticker and a stack of maintenance records going back to 1997.FEATURES- Heated Seats- Power seats with memory function- Rest function allows heat to be on in the car for up to 30 minutes (while you get gas, go to the store, etc.) - Telescoping steering wheel- Power mirrors- Garage door transmitter - Factory alarm system - Dual zone automatic climate control - Moonroof- 4 wheel traction control- Front, rear, and side airbags - Adaptive 5 speed transmission with manual shift mode as well as Sport mode- Vehicle information centerRECENT WORK- Intake & Throttle Body Gaskets- Rear Ball Joints- 2 BMW front shocks- Front Tie Rods- Amsoil oil change- Air filter- Spark plugs- Valve cover gaskets- PA inspection- Ignition Switch- Both catalytic converters replaced with Magnaflow high flow converters - Muffler delete, gives a nice V8 sound - Alpina front lip with black kidney bean grilles - PA State Inspection- A/C Recharged *All repairs completed by BMW specialty shop, records included* EXTERIOR - The paint is good condition overall and the body does not have any dents. There are the small scratches here and there that you would expect from a 19 year old car and the previous owner put some paint on the right rear fender well. Overall, when I got a nice coat of wax on before the winter the paint showed very well and still has a good slick appearance. - The wheels are solid and are in great shape overall and show well when they're cleaned. They are currently outfitted with winter tires (kind of a necessity in NE PA in January) and the car actually does pretty well in inclimate weather. - There is one small crack in the front bumper and there is a 4 inch crack in the windshield near the rear view mirror. - Overall, the exterior has a few little imperfections, but the car turns heads and shines up very nicely. The Alpina lip, black kidney grilles, and black BMW license plate gives it a pretty aggressive look from the front and works well with the smooth body lines along the side through the rear. Great looking car overall. SUSPENSION- As noted above, I have put a lot of money into getting the suspension up to par. One of the most appealing aspects of the E38s were their ride quality, and this car weathers our pot-hole ridden back roads with poise and comfort. It is in it's glory out on the open highway. Even with the winter tires, it's easily the most comfortable car I have driven and it still handles very well in the turns, especially for being such a big car. ENGINE- The motor in this car is in really good shape and it runs very strong with plenty of power. The previous owner had it for 11 years and he was a stickler for making sure the engine was well kept. As I mentioned above, I have maintenance records going back to 1997. Radiator, Throttle Body, Thermostat, Water Pump were some of the parts replaced in the last 5-10 years just to name a few. - It has been given a tune-up including the intake, valve cover, and throttle body gaskets. The only thing the motor will need is the PCV (CCV) valve and the Cruise Control Regulator. I have the PCV to include with the purchase. - The 5 speed automatic transmission is very smooth and the Manual, ASC, and Sport modes all work. EXHAUST- One of the original catalytic converters was bad so I had them both replaced with Magnaflow high flow units and had the mufflers deleted as well. The extra flow helped with my MPGs, my average went from 23 up to 25 MPG. If you keep it at 70mph the car can get anywhere from 27-29 MPG on the highway. - The only other thing I want to mention is that, because the Magnaflow cats flow more than the OEM ones did, I have seen it throw the CEL. I had it cleared and the 02s tested fine, just wanted to be transparent here. - There are many videos out there on the muffler delete sound but, as I said, it has a healthy V8 sound. I have the original mufflers and will include those for you so you will have the option to make it quiet again. - All of the exhaust work was done right by a professional speed shop with solid welding work (records included). INTERIOR - All of the interior functions work including the heated seats, telescoping wheel, vehicle information displays, etc. The only things that will need to be replaced are the right rear window motor, the seat sensor for the passenger side airbag, and the front cupholder. - My commute is about 1 hour and 15 minutes each way and one of the main reasons I bought this car was for comfort. The seats, front and back, are very comfortable and the leather is in good condition overall. Only the passenger side seat shows some cracking. There are a few small stains in the carpet and the headliner sags a little bit in the rear. Overall this is a great car. It's been a great comfortable driver, still turns heads, and has been very reliable. It has some odds and ends left to take care of but the major work has been done. And, if you know these cars, 111k is really just getting started. The E38 is one of those cars that I've always wanted to have and I have really enjoyed my time with this car, and my hope is that it finds a good home. Interestingly enough, I have the original window sticker that lists the car at $65,000 back in 1997; adjusting for inflation that's about $95,000 in today's dollars. This is a lot of car with a low reserve. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you should have any questions.
