When I bought the car, the dealer was advertising it had 179,000 miles. An independent mechanic in Florida pointed out that it's a 5-digit odometer (pictures available on request), meaning at 100,000 it resets. This means, I am told, the car in fact had only 117,900 miles when I purchased it. The car currently has 120,000 miles. Though the Ohio DMV (where the original owner resided) is unable to issue a letter before this auction ends, the good people at Auto-Check will provide you with the actual mileage history story if you're interested in calling to verify: 1-888-409-2204. Second, I believe in complete transparency and wanted to share some additional details for all that have transpired from direct messages/inquires from individuals: Q: what do you mean by "recently refurbished"? A: The previous owner claimed he did some kind of "frame-on" restoration - something I never got a great deal of detail on. The best I can tell, it meant new paint, new shocks, badging and mostly aesthetic stuff. I took it to an independent mechanic in Florida who neither me or the deal knew and he gave it an "A-" - saying he hasn't seen many in that good of shape and noting a few new engine components though I don't know exactly which ones. If there's anything specific under the hood you want me to photograph - just say the word. Q: it also looks like a trim piece off the landau roof is missing? A: Correct - about 2 inches on the driver side with a little cracking - but only on the tubing/seam. The rest of the Landau is pristine - bright white. Headliner/carpet: great Q: anything not work? A: Everything works perfectly, including all the finer electronics (AF/FM, trunk light, electric seats, locks, pre-sets, clock, gas light, alert panel) - which was a surprise to me when I bought it for a car 30+ years old. Q: does it leak anything at all? A: Holds her oil and transmission fluid. Leaks a small amount of coolant, but we are not talking about big pools of liquid on the garage floor. The source, we believe, is one small seam in the back (facing the engine) portion of the radiator that appears a little moist. My mechanic, however, said it doesn't require immediate attention - just something to watch. Q: tires, brakes, shocks, etc are all good? A: Tires are OK. Could be replaced if you want it to be a daily driver in a wet climate. Shocks are new. Brakes were checked by a mechanic in Florida. A second mechanic in Connecticut said he wanted to check them again in about 1,000 miles. Q: was the vehicle smoked in? A: No Q: How is the chrome on the wheels A: The chrome and black center/logo on all 4 wheels is in absolutely excellent shape (suspect they are new-ish but previous seller couldn't confirm it because it was a dealership not the individual) - however the front passenger wheel has a few scuffs (about 5-7 inches total) from a marble curb when trying to park it. They do not cut deep and can be polished out I am told. Q: What exact color is it? A: It is indeed metallic burgundy. Q: Anything else wrong with it? A: Cosmetically - and I will be candid with you - the car's biggest issue is the missing parts of the bumper filler on the front and rear. I have the original fragments but those are also pretty easy to find compared to some other GM parts.
